Survival suggstions

Hi people.

 

Having some thoughts on survival mode (and modding), would appreciate opinions. Note that I’m using Loot Overhaul Mod, so I don’t offer to cut ammo, medicine or loot drops since I already have this. I think it is good experience, and I’d like to make it even more intense, so here goes (TL;DR warning!).

 

  1. When you get enough radiation damage, it eventually causes mutations, randomly enhancing or weakening stats and perks for every 20%HP (or whatever) taken.
  2. You can get infected when looting corpses or any container with fungus.
  3. You can get poisoned by eating raw or out-of-date food and drinking dirty water.
  4. You are not allowed to use pip-boy while in combat. Plan your favourites right or expect trouble.
  5. Camping: you can carry moblie camp around and place it anywhere you think safe. Beware of night attacks and think twice to use fire. The idea here is that only in camp you can properly eat and heal. Think of camp as a mobile bonfire.
  6. Healing: more complex. Expect using antiseptic, bandages, trauma kits and such. Remember that stimpacks originally had some nasty side effects.
  7. Crafting is not instant. It takes time and gives you fatigue.
  8. Crafting requires tools. You need to collect tools (hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches) to craft stuff.
  9. You need a knife of any kind in your INV to harvest meat or animal hides. You do not know how to do it w/out perk (ANIMAL FRIEND, MWAHAHA!).
  10. You will need to collect recipies for every drug to craft in Chem bench. You do not now how to use it w/out perk.
  11. You need a cooking pan to roast stuff, pot to make soups and any tea- or coffeepot to boil stuff.
  12. You need to collect food recipies to cook 'em all. You do not know how to make a deathclaw stake from the start.
  13. MOAR primitive weaponry: bows, spears and such. The original post suggested import from Skyrim, but it seems it's not possible.

Some mods already do what you talk about. Camping is in the Conquest mod. Night attack could be a script addon to Conquest, just ask the author. Hardcore Food makes food not heal you, only gives the food buff and replenish hunger. For the price of doctors, that would need a simple tweak in CK. You cannot borrow item meshes from Skyrim, that is expressly forbidden by Bethesda, ask a mod author that made new bow animations and meshes if they can port it though. Immersive water production requires a rare, expensive, lore friendly "water chip" to purify large amounts of water, etc.
