If I'm not mistaken though it is mentioned that Dwemer are elves so they'd be tall like humans and skinny. Dwemer stands for Deep Elf.

May be true but this game breaks the rules by using non-traditional dwarves =)

That little info I provided was actually from in game during one of the loading screens where it tells you about races and other things.

I was just searching around looking around for info on the Dwemer, They became known as dwarves from the empire. The Dwemer were a very secretive type of elf that focused heavily on the secrets of science, engineering, and the arcane.

But i also think it would be sweet to have a traditional Dwarf in the game for the luls

Depends on which tradition you're considering. In Norse mythology dark elves and dwarves are very similar. ;)

I'd suggest making a bulky Nord with a bushy beard and using the console command setscale 0.95 or even 0.90 in order to play a character that looks like a dwarf as it's going to be tricky to make a viable custom race without the toolset.

If you're going with lore, dwarves would be dwemer and share some common elven features. Based on the evidence available, they are known for long beards and perhaps a few other unique facial characteristics.

See the articles for Yagrum Bagarn and Radac Stungnthumz for a little more info on how Bethesda chose to depict Dwemer. They do seem dwarf-like (in my opinion) despite the elven characteristics. I think a mod could be lore-friendly in their appearance while also remaining relatively true to what a traditional fantasy dwarven race looks like.

The biggest problem making it lore friendly is, of course, the disappearance of the Dwemer. It would be pretty cool if there were a quest mod aimed at rediscovering a lost Dwemer civilization (perhaps a city frozen in time with magic, or a portal sending the player back in time).

Funny that you say a city frozen in time with magic, or a portal sending the player back in time. You mention the disappearance of the Dwemer Elves but whose to say they didn't create a city deep underground with a stock of food to last them a couple hundred years? Now finding this hidden city would be a pretty awesome quest.

It's a possibility, but the recorded date for their disappearance is around year 700 of the first era, which means it's over 3700 years before Skyrim. That would be an awful lot of food to stockpile!

Not impossible, I suppose, but they'd probably need a way to sustain themselves (perhaps using artificial lights to grow algae or other aquatic biomes?).
