Better Third-Person Camera

ChaseCameraMod might be something like what you're looking for. The description of the mod;

Thanks. I've installed this but haven't tried it yet. Personally, I'm looking for a 3rd person camera that is more of an over-the-shoulder view (or maybe still centered but further overhead). Right now the player character's head is right in the middle of the screen so you can't see what you're interacting with, or aiming at.

But this mod is exactly what AnznMega did NOT want.

This mod claims to be 3rd person, but it's nothing else but a 1st person skeleton with moved camera position. ;)

The fact that no one has made a 3rd person camera replacer that replaces the actual 3rd person camera makes me think that there is a technical reason why it can't be done.

We may just be looking at a fundamental technical limitation of the engine, and no amount of bashing around with mods can change that.

This is exactly what I said in my very first post: there is no interface to do this. Not scripting, standard or OBSE, and not by animations.

The latter I have tried myself quite unsuccessfully. But the engine just resisted all my attempts to move an imaginary 3rd person camera. And would rather crash. :tongue:

Ahh i see overlooked he said that. Shame it's the only option currently.

If my research is accurate, Oblivion and Fallout 3/New Vegas both run on similar engines.

I'm not aware of the date Oblivion was produced, before or after Fallout 3, but Fallout 3 does use the Over-the-shoulder camera.

Maybe that can be a bit of help?

Edit: Fallout 3 was released after Oblivion. My mistake.
