KingOnigami
I recently spent weeks sifting through tons of textures to get Fallout 3 as 'hires' as possible and make it as beautiful as an old Fallout fan could possibly want it... BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT. That all stopped when I ran into countless crashes, usually 10-20 minutes into gameplay. Sometimes less, or usually when switching areas. At first I thought it might have been too much hires textures, so I dumbed down NMC's Full HD pack to the Performance pack, I saw no real change in performance, and it still crashed every 10-20 minutes regardless of where I was or what I was doing (even when I was standing still). I went ahead and installed the textures and mods, did some suggestions (defragging, "clear_EVERY_cell" mod, etc.) and to no avail so as a last resort, I'm asking on the very site I downloaded the mods from for assistance. The load order is as follows: Fallout3.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esmAnchorage.esmThePitt.esmBrokenSteel.esmPoint Lookout.esmDCInteriors_ComboEdition.esmZeta.esmProject Beauty.esmEnhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esmStreet Lights.esmUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.espUnofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.espProject Beauty - Broken Steel.espProject Beauty - Point Lookout.espEwwGhoulyBody.espEnhanced Weather - Rain and Snow Fallout.espEnhanced Weather - REBOOT.espEnhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.espEnhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.espEnhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.espFellout-Anchorage.espFellout-BrokenSteel.espFellout-pipboylight.espFellout-PointLookout.espFellout-Zeta.espFellout-Full.espRealistic Interior Lighting - BS.espRealistic Interior Lighting - OA.espRealistic Interior Lighting - PL.espRealistic Interior Lighting.espStreetLights - Wasteland.espChems and Meds Re- Textures Pack.espmegalight.esplaserScatterGunReTextured.esppater_NoTrace.esppater_NoTraceNoBullet.esp I know it's a bit of a long list... I also used combo textures from NMC, 4Aces, Breezes Males, BABE Mk3 Body Replacer and other armor/misc textures. I sifted through several texture packs on the site so it's hard to remember all I replaced textures with. But before I installed all of the textures I attempted NMC's (before I used Maximum Bumpmaps/Medium Bumpmaps) and still got the same result. My computer specs are as follows: Radeon 6850 HD Series4GB 1600 DDR3 RAMi5 2500K 3.3ghz I'm also running Fallout 3 in window mode using 1440X810 resolution, AA and AS has been turned off with the same results, I keep them usual around x4 AA/x8 AS and once again, saw no real change in gameplay performance or frame rate. I would like to figure out what's causing all these crashes or where to look specifically for the errors, I waited a long time to finally play this game and was amped up to see all the cool textures available to really make it shine. Any help would be appreciated, thanks. EDIT: I found in the Event Viewer that Fallout 3 has the exception code: 0xc0000005 if that's helpful. Werne
First, your load order is messed up, run BOSS to clean it up then put Street Lights.esm above BrokenSteel.esm. After you clean up your load order make a merged patch, here's how to do it: 1. Start FO3 Edit2. Load your mods3. When everything loads select all your mods, then right-click on the mod list and select Create Merged Patch4. A small window will pop up asking you to name your patch, write something and click Create5. Now when exiting FO3 Edit another window will pop up named Save Changed Files, click OK6. When starting FOMM or FO3 Launcher put your patch LAST in the load order and check it
KingOnigami
Still crashing. Am I using too many custom textures?
BlackRampage
Did you run BOSS as Werne suggested? If so, post your load order again. before I installed all of the textures I attempted NMC's (before I used Maximum Bumpmaps/Medium Bumpmaps) and still got the same result. My computer specs are as follows: Radeon 6850 HD Series4GB 1600 DDR3 RAMi5 2500K 3.3ghzThe max bumpmaps can only be used on rigs with serious over-clocking + dual / triple graphics cards and loads of RAM.Also, the more mods you have, the lower the quality of the texture pack you want to install should be. KingOnigami
Oh. The load order is now: Fallout3.esm Anchorage.esm ThePitt.esm StreetLights.esm BrokenSteel.esm Point Lookout.esm Zeta.esm Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch.esm Project Beauty.esm Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow.esm DCInteriors_ComboEdition.esm Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Operation Anchorage.esp Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - The Pitt.esp Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Broken Steel.esp Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Point Lookout.esp Unofficial Fallout 3 Patch - Mothership Zeta.esp Project Beauty - Broken Steel.esp Project Beauty - Point Lookout.esp StreetLights - Wasteland.esp Chems and Meds Re- Textures Pack.esp megalight.esp laserScatterGunReTextured.esp Fellout-pipboylight.esp Enhanced Weather - Rain and Snow Fallout.esp Enhanced Weather - Radioactive Rain and Snow Plugin.esp Enhanced Weather - Weather Sounds in Interiors.esp Enhanced Weather - Sneak Bonus during Storms.esp Enhanced Weather - REBOOT.esp Fellout-Full.esp Fellout-Anchorage.esp Fellout-BrokenSteel.esp Fellout-PointLookout.esp Fellout-Zeta.esp Realistic Interior Lighting.esp Realistic Interior Lighting - BS.esp Realistic Interior Lighting - OA.esp Realistic Interior Lighting - PL.esp EwwGhoulyBody.esp pater_NoTrace.esp pater_NoTraceNoBullet.esp PUT THIS AT VERY BOTTOM.esp (FO3 patch) Yes, I did run the BOSS like Werne suggested but I didn't think the textures were taxing my system that much because of how smooth it runs and my CPU/RAM usage remains low. Any suggestions for texture packs I could use that might not be so brutal on the comp? I used NMC medium, and I think MAX bumpmaps, Breezes males, BABES Type 3 bodies, a mix of 4Aces and a few other texture mods for the misc items in the game. Maybe I used too much? =/ Thanks for the help.
