Help with follower for FNV

So, I'm starting a follower mod and I need a bit of help, this follower is a synth. Now, the problem is for what I want to do I don't have a clue and I can't find any tutorials for it, which is making the textures/mesh for it. I want to give this follower eyes similar to that of a Gen 2 synth, but look more like a Gen 3 with a bit a facial damage causing it to expose a bit of hardware, but I don't know how to do this part. So, can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial or is willing to collaborate with me to make this follower?

I've actually made quite a few cyborg characters for my own use, so I have a lot of experience doing bascially what you want to do.

You are going to want to create custom synth races.

The eyes are simple. Just extract one of the existing eye textures and fiddle with it in GIMP or Paint.Net. If this is for your own use you can just copy the synth eye textures from FO4, but you can't release that sort o fthing anywhere due to copyright issues. If you want to release the mod, you can generally find robot-ish eye textures on a google search. Camera lenses of various types make a good resource for synth eyes.

The body mesh is a bit more difficult.

There are two ways that you can go about the body modifications. One is just to do a simple retexture. This is conceptually easier, since it's just a retexture and you don't need to edit the mesh at all, but artistically it's more difficult. There's a terminator mod for FO3 that does a really good job with using damaged skin textures to show synth type parts underneath. It's very difficult to make that look convincing, though, and whoever did those textures did a really good job with them.

The second approach requires you do actually modify the mesh, which is more difficult to do since it requires you to know how to do some 3d modeling, but it's easier for those of us with more limited artistic abilities to make it look decent for something like this. Basically, look up how to do armor and clothing modeling using Blender or 3dsMax (I personally use Blender because it's free). The approach I've taken with cyborgs is to cut away the human parts where I want the machinery to be visible, then create a second mesh that has the machinery bits and rig it to the same armature.

I can probably help you out quite a bit, but not for a while. Real life is taking up a lot of my time at the moment and I've promised a couple of things for some other FNV folks ahead of you that I haven't had a chance to get to either. I could use a few synths like this for a mod I'm working on, so if you are willing to wait I will probably be able to do the bulk of the work for you.

Thanks, I have bad luck when it comes to finding good tutorials if you know any good ones I'd appreciate a link, but I'm more than happy to wait for when you can help PM me when you can or with any questions, but again thank you.
