Xialoh
I'm playing a wood elf thief/archer character on master difficulty, and I rather enjoy keeping a companion around, but on my last character they seemed to get in the way more often than not. Are there any that do a pretty good job sneaking around and being useful? Nothings gonna be perfect until companions stop blocking you in rooms, pushing you off cliffs, holding you down just long enough for the army chasing you to catch up, etc, but still >_>. modder3434
if you don't want to go lone wolf like crudius suggested. go with Jenassa, she costs 500 gold to hire, she's located at the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun.
Xialoh
Alright, I'll give the mercenary a try. If that doesn't work out I'll just wait for a companion mod that comes with some useful stealthy AI tweaks.
Fatalmasterpiece
There's a female companion near a mine, I forget by which town, that uses bows, light armor and supposedly shows you how to use light armor better though I don't remember gaining a skill point or her name. Anneka (sp?) is her name, found at Darkwater Crossing. I think there's something wrong with her, as she won't use any upgrade to her bow (like a lot of the followers) and her ability to withstand any damage is pretty non-existent. Yeah I think that's her. Unfortunately, like many things in this game, she seems glitched. No skill point increase from her "training". Just like no map markers when someone will show you where something is. -_-

Very useful against random encounters. Just leave them at the entrance to whatever area you're planning to sneak into.
