  1. Hmm. Is this by any chance what "modAA00E3_2014_Ciri" would be? I've got it in my mods folder from when I was modding my game in 2019, and have been trying to identify the mod it came from. None of the Ciri named mods in my download history are it though. I guess if the mod was hidden that would explain why I can't find it. Could be something else entirely though...I downloaded quite a few Ciri related mods lol. edit: looks like it's probably rokzenze's Ciri Face Reworked mod (currently on the Nexus), and the last update they did changed the mod's folder name. My last download of that mod shows as July 21 2019, and that's the date my computer shows I downloaded the zip file that modAA00E3_2014_Ciri came from, so.
  2. So I have a lot of mods installed at this time, but the problem has been present since I had very few, seems like. I am using mod merger, and script merger. I have verified files on several occasions and reinstalled the Unification Patch afterwards each time. It's very important to understand that my mod setup does actually work, when the stars align. Here's the problem: 1. Every day I go to launch the game for the first time after booting up my computer. Doesn't work - just comes up in the background. 2. I proceed to close the game via task manager and reattempt this process 2-5 times. Eventually, the game launches. 3. I get in game to find that I have no torso. Well, that's clearly a bad launch. Retry. 4. The game now successfully launches every time without fail. Like a good [old] lawnmower, it's warmed up now. 5. Back in the game again, and my torso is present! But my white wolf face textures aren't there - I know because the skin is red and eyebrows are black. And when this happens, I know that if I walk around, some other textures just won't be there. Like invisible boxes and braziers and rocks, possibly. 6. Finally launch a few more times and it's all there, I've got the full package. A torso, proper face, no missing textures. I can play for hours now without much issue. if I play too long, I may get a minor hiccup in a conversation or two like a slow half second blurry screen load, but even this is only a very minor issue that doesn't happen often enough for me to care. If I'm slightly lucky, I can even relaunch at this point and not have problems. At worst, 2-3 tries and I should be back in the sweet spot. But it's all lost if I close the game for a while, or restart, or make any noteworthy mod change. There was a time when I tried troubleshooting by removing all mods and reinstalling them one at a time and testing, but that didn't work. I'd have everything working seemingly, and suddenly the game would just refuse to launch. Back then when that happened, the only way the game would ever launch would be if I uninstalled all my mods and launched the game. After that I could reinstall every single one of them and it would launch. But then change its mind later. Even with like one single mod installed at times. What worked was basically random. Now I imagine the standard answer to this is "mod limit", but it's a bizarre explanation if so. I've used all manner of merger, and as I said, I can get the game to run near perfectly. I just have to try 5-15 times to make it happen right. So...what could be the explanation for this? I've done verifying files, and before I started this most recent modding adventure, this was a fresh install of the game, having not played in nearly 3 years. TL;DR - It takes a process of several launches, task kills, and game load reattempts before I can get my game working properly. Once it is working, it just works. Until I close the game for a prolonged period, after which I must repeat the process. As I've tried all standard fixes, I don't necessarily want a solution so much as an explanation for why this might be happening. It's annoying, but not completely intolerable. Having an SSD and an otherwise very fast PC is likely the only reason I've maintained sanity however.
  3. Ah yes, that might be a complicated but effective solution...I'd decided against using this a few days ago for a number of reasons while my game was broken despite a fairly minimal number of mods I was using. But, I've since managed to get more things functioning properly after figuring out all these extra tools. AMM is worth a second consideration, but after banging my head against a wall for the last week or so and finally having things running well, I'm hesitant to try it. Lot involved in the installation, lot of after-install steps, lot of comments suggesting it's a problematic thing to use without running into problems. Gonna read around on it some more and possibly give it a go. Still open to solutions that may be...somewhat less likely to wreak havoc on my game if anyone knows anything though . Thanks for the reminder.
  4. TL;DR - I'd like to replace a number of armor models with Mastercrafted Bear Armor 3. Any help or advice appreciated. I remember I did something like this early on when the game released using someone else's mod, all I had to do was edit some things in a text file. Made gryphon armor have the look of bear armor 2 iirc. Nothing seems that simple now. To summarize though, I want to replace all models of bear/feline/gryphon armor with the bear Mastercrafted look (so bear armor 3 in console). I'm already using one mod that sort of does this for the feline armors, but I don't really want to stick to just those stats. I pretty much want to play normally, choose armor as I go, but have the Mastercrafted Bear armor look the whole while. Is this easily done, or would it take extensive modding experience? I'm not really averse to doing it myself if it's as simple as changing some text like I remember, but it seems things changed, or something. Not a full on request, but if this is a simple thing, I'd appreciate this change. Or a link to something I've overlooked.
  5. Looks like flying is definitely a bad idea, lol. As to the perks, that's awesome if you're right. I thought everything was fine, it's just that if I check with the "hasperk" command, it turns up a 0 for most perks. Reconsidering that fact, I'm going to check to see if it doesn't turn up 0 for the most basic of perks. If it does, I suppose hasperk wouldn't be very reliable.
  6. So I tried to add a bunch of perks to Mjoll. I targeted her in first person, then went into the perk tree and went through for ones I wanted to give her. I just used addperk and then the perk ID, going in order for ranked perks. I added perks all throughout about 4 trees, and only one time did it say "perk added to Mjoll the Lioness with rank 1" and that was for tower of strength. Re-adding this same perk again gives the same message every time. Are all the other perks I'm doing being added? Is tower of strength even being added? I can't really tell to be honest. I approached a giant and a mammoth, and she survived for about 25 seconds give or take. Pretty extreme test really, but I was looking for indication on tower of strength working.
  7. Well that's pretty awesome. I'll try and make Mjoll into a pretty cool ranger/tank hybrid...shame I can't see what perks she already has though. I was hoping to fill in for shortcomings in perk choices. From the sounds of it, I'll end up just making her completely overpowered. Last night I cleared a bandit cave near Whiterun. Did it before on my mage, but I let her deal with the boss at the end herself. She finished him without much of an issue, though it took about a minute. What I don't want is for her to be capable of soloing dragons. Edit: Also, awesome dragon follower o_O. Does it fly around and do all the stuff dragons normally do as well?
  8. By that I mean, could I turn a powerful female mage into a greatsword wielding warrior? A Warrior into a rogue? Will just modifying the stats and giving them the gear do it, or is their AI set a certain way? Asking because I'm using Mjoll with my thief character (ironic I know) and I want her to be decent for sneaking around and maybe some ranged attacking. She serves fine as a tank in full consoled ebony gear so far though. I'd just like to make her a non factor when it comes to sneaking (so ideally, she's even better at sneak than me). Also, I've been told you can teach companions abilities, and, I think, give them perks. Is this true? Is it possible to see what perks they have? Thanks for any info.
  9. Haven't had much of a chance to try these out yet as I've been doing the thieves guild quests, and those definitely don't go hand in hand with bringing companions around. But I'm towards the end now and... ~*KINDA SPOILERS (THIEVES GUILD)*~ Karliah and Brynjolf are kind of the best companions I've gotten yet. How the hell is it that they actually move out of the way when they block me in corners, yet none of the other companion AI seems capable of doing the same? I'm really a bit disappointed, finding out that you can't actually have either of them as companions after this quest, even if they're clearly a couple of the most fitting all things considered.
  10. Alright, I'll give the mercenary a try. If that doesn't work out I'll just wait for a companion mod that comes with some useful stealthy AI tweaks.
  11. I'm playing a wood elf thief/archer character on master difficulty, and I rather enjoy keeping a companion around, but on my last character they seemed to get in the way more often than not. Are there any that do a pretty good job sneaking around and being useful? Nothings gonna be perfect until companions stop blocking you in rooms, pushing you off cliffs, holding you down just long enough for the army chasing you to catch up, etc, but still >_>.
  12. I'll try that load order. I did a fresh install because the order wasn't fixing the freezes. In regards to FO3 edit though..I'm not very good with things like that. If I find myself crashing again now that I've done a fresh install, this time skipping the companion vault and texture packs, then I'll try that. I never get very far when I try to do all that tech stuff with bios and whatnot though =/.

I'd also like to add that it seems to primarily be happening at Minefield. I had a save in Minefield at night, and I'd get CTD'd every 10 seconds after loading or so. I then went back to a save just before I headed to minefield, and managed to walk all the way there, kill Arkansas, and explore the area, before I CTD'd again.
