cobolt01
Hi all, I started my Oblvion modding today. Something I've always wanted to do. Strangely enough when I'm in The Great Forest and other normaly instense areas I maintain 30fps, but ever since I played around with my Oblivion config file, when I'm in towns and look further than about 30metres (you know what I mean) I get incredibly low frame rates sometimes down to about 15FPS. Does anyone know what I did wrong? Secondly, I've used the Illumination Within mod, but after a while, the game minimizes and the mod stops working after I restore it. I've patched Oblivion to the latest version, I'm also using some Texture and water mods. Thanks in advance.
wizardmirth
Illumination, water, and high rez landscape mods all add to fps drag more than most mods unless your system & video card can keep up with it. Try rolling some of the video settings back.
cobolt01
Well I have a Radeon HD3850 and a Athlon 64 5200+ and 3GB of DDR2 800 RAM. Surely I've set something wrong in the config. I'll try using a defauly High config instead of the one I've made.
TheLastIstari
Or if you're feeling lazy you can try Streamline. It's supposed to increase preformance in Oblivion, and it comes with a nifty auto-saver that can help you save your files incase one of them goes corrupt on you. It can be found here: http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10400 But it needs OBSE to run though, that can be found here: http://obse.silverlock.org/
