Stealth Necessary for Dark Brotherhood?

Playing the DB as a mage is quite a bit rougher, but very doable. You may not get nearly as much of the "assassin" feel, but you have a man right there in the Sanctuary who tells you exactly how to pull it off - Festus. I believe he describes it along the lines of "Walk right up, melt their skin off, then run like mad," which is pretty much the only way to pull it off unless you are heavy on invisibility usage. Note, however, doing so can cause an extremely entertaining getaway after pulling off certain contracts.

'dem mages can run fast!

Seriously though, it's quite true. Me running with guard upon guard, or enemy, running after me for a mile. With some luck, you'll hit into a few cave bears and a dragon or two.

Yup. I totally didn't survive that.

There are some missions where I think you will have trouble, where you could get overwhelmed. I think honestly you should run a mage with illusion, I mean what better reason to use illusion than for the DB storyline. Its good for a RP sense, yeah hey mr assassin you can sneak around and kill, but I can INSTANTLY disappear right in front of people hahaha.

I don't know...but i wouldn't even try it because i don't like joining every faction with a stupid jack of all trades that they make you now, so i make specific characters for certain factions and refuse to join the others, makes sense and more fun i think.

sounds to me like i'll probably enjoy it best as a character that is at least a little stealth-based. or maybe i should just level up my mage in illusion. only time will tell. but thank you guys for your help, didn't want to just blindly start the brotherhood and realize afterwards it was better suited to another character.

My rather rich fighter brazenly walked up to targets, murdered them in cold blood in front of multiple people, then cheeruflly paid the fine with a wink when the next Guard came up. Got to have some use for all that gold, and I completely enjoyed the Orc fighter version of stealth. Edited by Mechanorm

Oh, how I miss the Morag Tong writs.

Remember the Orc in Oblivion's DB? "Stealth is for sissies, just strike the fear in their heart when you charge in, clad in heavy armor, bellowing your rage whilst swaying your axe left and right!"

I loved that guy :D
