KratosAurion777
Guys , Did you try to kill opponents with destruction spell ? when you start the game it looks powerfull but at high level IT DOESN'T KILL I have all the perks in destruction , the best spell and i still kill faster with a deadric bow without enchantment and just 2 perk in it ... And recently my illusion don't work anymore because everyone is high level . So now the only thing i can do is conjuring 2 dremora and watching them with my companion killing thing ... I play in master Edited December 10, 2011 by KratosAurion777
darkjedi73200
You may need to craft some gear that gives you +dmg to your destruction.Ring / Amulet at the very least I don't know how you built out your Illusion tree, but there are Perks that make it so your spells are not avoided by higher level mobs. Here is my spec btw:http://www.thenexusforums.com/index.php?/topic/488082-lightning-mage-build/page__p__3989421__hl__%2Blightning+%2Bmage__fromsearch__1#entry3989421

Only reduced cost. @OPMagig doesn't scale. At all. With anything. Not level, not skill. I know what you mean. Try to kill a rat with fireball on Master on higher levels and you'll prolly die of old age before the rat dies. I know the feeling. The first time I fought Krosis, making no damage on my pure mage, then I finished him rather swiftly with an imperial bow and skill 30 ... You can enchant gear to cast for free, it may sound cool, but it doesn't really matter that much when it takes 10 hits with the best spell to kill even the most average opponents. Basically you have to dual cast + impact and literally tire everyone to death. Master level spells sure do some damage, but have limited use since they hit everything, friend or foe and have really long casting time, combined with the little fact they can't be really targeted. And well, the damage... It's not that decent when I think about it. The firestorm hits about the same amount as two normal attacks from Skyforge sword on my warrior character. And that doesn't have long casting time  So at the end of the day, Destruction as your main source of damage stops working once you reach higher levels. And since other shools have only support-like spells it gets a bit weird. On the other hand, summon dremora lord seems to be ridiculous too, they are just way too strong. macole
What can you say? Beth listened to all the Oblivion rags about majic being OPed and game breaking so they nerfed it. And that's how it is.
Stormcrown
There are several mods out there that boost the effects of the destruction spec tree
NephilimNexus
It is interesting how in Morrowind, taking the magic path was a complete headache because you could only regain mana through sleep and potions I hardly ever bothered with it Then in Oblivion magic became so easy & powerful that there was no reason to play anything else. Even if you wanted to play a fighter or thief or whatever, in the end you found yourself leveling up magic just because it was so easy & powerful that it soon overcame every other path you could take. So now we're up to Skyrim and magic has been pushed onto the backburner again due to the whole system being console-nerfed back into static, inflexible values that make it irrelevant once you reach a certain level of enemy. Maybe someday Bethesda will find the right balance? Edited December 10, 2011 by NephilimNexus
ZenMonkey47
What if, instead of learning new destruction spells, you just had four types: # Bolt, # Spray, # Rune and # Explosion. Then as you gained the relevant perks (apprentice destruction, adept destruction etc) the four spells get more powerful. Completing the 'Power of the Elements' quest gives you the ability to combine elements in your spells (for example, your attacks do both fire and ice damage)
Grandchamp1989
Destruction is by far the weakest. Bow/Melee: With Enchantment 100 + extra effect, Smithing 100 + improved weapons, alchemy 100 + fortify enchant and smithing = outragious damage with bows and melee weapons. 500+ damage atleastConjuration: 2 dremora lords can pretty much solo anything, even battle dragons straight on. Illusion: Calm spells and invisibility/muffle is amazingly good for a sneak charAlteration: Paralyse and dragonskin = roflstomp Destruction on master difficulty is an absolute joke even with incinerate being spammed........... I would advice people to ignore it if possible. :(
