GnomeChild420
Fallout New Vegas Has Stopped Working? I downloaded and installed fallout new vegas and tried running it both normally and through steam but everytime I do it brings me to the game menu, I hit play game and it goes black full screen as if it's loading then pops up the error: "FalloutNV has stopped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I'm running windows 7 64 bit and have it installed in my program files directory. I've tried running in compatibility with windows xp service pack 3, and getting new patches, and even re-installing, nothing worked. Does anyone know how I can fix this? I have: Windows 7 Professional 64 bit Intel Core i2 Duo EVGA GeForce GT 730 2GB GDDR5 128bit 8 gigs of ram Edited October 12, 2016 by GnomeChild420
dubiousintent
Have you updated your nVidia driver recently? If so, please see "Cause-3" under this entry in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict Troubleshooting" guide. Otherwise, see if the other "Causes" there apply. Also, read "Installing Games on Windows Vista+" in my signature, and move the game out of the default "C:\Program Files" folder tree. That location only causes problems for games. -Dubious-
zeanomuttmk2
Nvidia have reported they are working on it in a new driver release just have to sit tight :(
RangerHawk
For nVidia it is absolutely a driver issue. I forget the exact version that broke compatibility, but I think it is like five or six revs back now. I sure hope NVidia is sincere about fixing this as I would like to play the game without having to run an out of date driver to do so.
dubiousintent
The "New Vegas Anti-Crash" (NVAC) mod as of v7.5.0.0 (released 25 Oct 2016) has been reported to fix the conflict with the latest video drivers from nVidia and AMD. The Nov 2016 Win10 update is also supposed to resolve the conflict caused by the change to the WDDK. -Dubious-
