Sleep in Publick Occurences not working

Have you tested on a save from before you ever entered Publik Occurrences?

This is another long shot but, it's possible something is baked into your save that is preventing the mod from working.

Unless I'm wrong Beds are not persistent ref's so that shouldn't be it but, maybe because of Piper herself living in the cell there is some reason.

By chance are owned beds persistent? I didn't think so but I honestly haven't looked.

Edit: On second thought I'm betting Pipers bed is a persistent Ref which would be baked into your save stoping the mod from working. It is most likely persistent because of her packages for sleep, sitting at her desk and so on.

just try an old save where you haven't gone there and see if you can use the bed.

I took a look at the console commands, you can always use setownership to make the bed yours. However I don't know how that will freak out Piper's AI package, so it's potentially risky. I *think* that if you do setownership and it breaks Piper in some way that you can simply revert to an older save from before using the console command to fix it but I'm not positive. There have been occasions I've used console commands when reloading older saves didn't undo them. So check with the mod author first and see if they can help. But as a last resort you can open the console using the ~ key, click on the bed itself when already in console. It's ID will show up in the top middle of the console area. Then type "setownership" minus the " marks and press enter.

If you use setownership I'd hang out and watch Piper for a few hours around her bed time (no idea what time it is, likely midnight but be prepared to watch as early as 10 pm and as late as 2 am) and see what happens. If she never goes to bed but seems otherwise fine it's probably ok. If she goes to bed and you can still use it too, then fabulous. If it were me I'd wait in a chair until sometime between 9 pm and 10 pm then just sit without using the wait function through several in game hours to observe. It's kinda boring and takes awhile but it's the only way I know of to observe the NPC's AI package in action. I'm fairly sure that if Piper can no longer use the bed that she'll just wander around all night from chair to chair and other leisure activities until her normal wakeup time kicks in and gives her a new schedule and that's the only real consequence but I'm not an expert on AI packages.

So just be warned, there are potential risks with this course of action that may at worst case result in starting a new game to fix but I think the risks are pretty minor and I'd try it. Mostly I'm putting this warning here as a CYA. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of how NPC's AI packages work can give a more informed opinion on risk.

At the moment, I've dismissed Piper (affinity is maxed though) and am traveling with Dogmeat. When I pick her back up again, I'll give the setownership thing a try. Although, I suppose I could try it without her being my companion (??).

The only reason why I even added the mod is that it just made sense to me. From my first play-through last November, I thought it odd that you can't sleep in Piper's bed.

Who your companion is when you do the setownership doesn't impact it in any way whatsoever. All you're doing is changing the ownership flag on that one particular object. The *only* thing that will affect is Piper's AI package. Think of an AI package as an NPC's daily schedule planner. It says things like from 12 pm to 8 am you sleep in X bed. From 8 am to noon you wander around Diamond City harassing the locals for news. At noon you stop by the noodle bar for lunch. After lunch, go bug McDonough. From 5 pm until 10 pm you can sandbox relaxing around Diamond City, including Dugout Inn. From 10 pm to midnight, sandbox relax at home. Now obviously the schedule I just made up is not the real one, but that's basically the gist of how an AI package works. Most likely her AI package schedules her to sleep in that bed for a set time each night as part of her normal schedule when she's stationed at Publick Occ instead of acting as your companion. I seem to recall from a Skyrim tutorial that if the NPC couldn't access their bed during their normally scheduled bed time they just stood around until their schedule change to a different activity is due. So it's most likely not game breaking if changing the bed ownership means she can't sleep in it anymore.
