antoniorevan
I need your help. I've been playing New Vegas for the last 2 months without problems, but yesterday I have stumbled upon this bug. As you can see in the pictures I have some letters (an E and a X) and lines in the screen in normal gameplay. They disturb me a lot. I've verified cache of the game and the problem persists.I've also loaded the game without mods and the problem persists I haven't installed any new mod or changed load order in the previous weeks so It's not mod related. I don't know what to do to repair this annoying bug My load order FalloutNV.esmDeadMoney.esmHonestHearts.esmOldWorldBlues.esmLonesomeRoad.esmGunRunnersArsenal.esmClassicPack.esmMercenaryPack.esmTribalPack.esmCaravanPack.esmYUP - Base Game + All DLC.esmSexout.esmSexoutSlavery.esmSexoutCommonResources.esmSexoutSoliciting.esmSexoutTryout.esmSexoutWorkingGirl.espVault-HQ1_NV.esmVanessaFollowerNV.esmNevadaSkies.esmMikotoBeauty.esmWMR.esmSexoutPregnancyV3.esmSexoutStore.esmSexoutDrugging.esmWMVM.esmYUP - NPC Fixes (Base Game + All DLC).espSexoutSpunk.espThe Mod Configuration Menu.espThe Weapon Mod Menu.espPerkEveryLevel.espVurt's WFO.espWeaponModsExpanded.espWMX-DLCMerged.espWMX-POPMerged.espCut Content Merged.espDLCCompanions_1_3.espSunnyCompanion.espCaravanOverhaulCompilation.espSexout-Wear-And-Tear.espArmors.espMikotoBeauty.espWMR - WMX Edition.espDLC Weapon Integration - WMX.espSmallerTalk.espSexoutLust - anyHUD.espSexoutSoliciting-DLC.espPipBoyLight.espno karma loss for stealing.espPittGalStatsFix.espGameplay Mods.espMojaveDelight.espsexoutVanessa.espAllCompanionsEssential 2.0b.espLessIntrusiveKillCam.espNevadaSkies - Ultimate DLC Edition.espMergedPatch.espTotal active plugins: 57Total plugins: 57 http://i.imgur.com/ibft36u.png http://i.imgur.com/reHKjAI.png http://i.imgur.com/mcml4JR.png Edited October 12, 2016 by antoniorevan
dubiousintent
If you haven't changed anything in the game, then it's likely to be something outside of it. Like a Windows or video driver update. A lot of Win10 users have been having problems with video driver updates forced upon them. Usually this has meant they can't even start the game; not anything like this. But something to look into. There have been a couple of threads about the matter, but this one has identified some specific drivers for nVidia and AMD that have worked for others. The "E" and "X" appear to be part of a menu display. Which suggests perhaps you have a corrupt XML from a "HUD-UI-Menu" mod. XML files are overwrites like texture replacements, so you would need to reinstall them. In which case I suggest you read the "HUD-UI-Menu issues" wiki article first. And if it is a corrupt file, that should always prompt a ScanDisk/ChkDsk check of the drive before re-installing any files. No sense copying a file over a bad section of disk again. -Dubious-

They told me to cut this folders and see what happens: Fallout New Vegas\Data\textures\interfaceFallout New Vegas\Data\Menus I did some test to isolate the culprit: Inside the folder:C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout New Vegas\Data\menus\main These two were the culprits. inventory_menu.xmlinventory_menu.xml.uio The game seems to run fine without them, I have observed that every time I start the game, It creates a new inventory_menu.xml which is deleted when I close the game. For now I think I would continue with this solution, If I continue further problems I'll post it here.
dubiousintent
I would look for a mod that is installing it's own "Inventory_menu.xml" file. When you delete that file, the game is building one from the default in "Fallout - misc.bsa". The "inventory_menu.xml.uio" file or "Fallout New Vegas\Data\uio\private\supported.txt" should provide a clue as to which mod(s) install a replacement file. Note "install order" is what is most significant with XML files. -Dubious-
