Overboss Power Armor Headlamp Bug

Recommended Posts

Right, I searched the heck out of these forums to make sure someone else didn't already have this issue. At the time of this writing, it seems I'm the only one.

So I got the Overboss Power Armor in Nuka World. Well the headlamp's doing some pretty goofy stuff. Screenshot attached. Not only is the flashlight not "on" (as in there's no glow texture), but the light source is anchored somewhere at the very back of the flashlight (where the battery would be), rather than where the lightbulb would be.

In bold are the two most suspicious mods, but disabling them had no effect on the bugged Overboss headlamp. Perhaps this is a Bethesda bug that needs to be fixed with a mod?

Or if someone else has has this problem and fixed it, and spots the offending mod in my load order, help a guy out?

Thanks in any case.

I'd build something better, because it looks like that s#*! sucks IMO. But start merging it as you build it, because 254 you won't be able to edit the whole thing, and it's dirty as s#*! most of the time. But that being the case, you could just turn off mods until you found which part broke your PA light, remove that, or better just replace the headlamp in the PA with something we made. If you want to request that be made, there's a board for that. However I would recommend beginning to learn how to edit these .esm & .esp along with what all the different types of data from the SDK an what it does. That way you'll be able to create anything. You know, which is a lot of work, but it's more fun. Make backups! ROFL

....I take it those many many MANY patches in your load order were all made by yourself.

Yeah, I know about the request forum. I came here to make sure it wasn't a bug that had already been fixed, to make sure I wasn't requesting a mod for something superfluous.

So what about you, then? Does the Overboss headlamp work as intended for you, like the standard PA headlamp?

I forgot to mention that the standard PA headlamp works as intended in my game. It's only the Overboss headlamp that's broken.

I mean, if it's possible to fix on my own, I could probably learn how to do it. I just don't know what program to use or what files to crack open and tinker around with.

I make merged files since a few days ago, then edits and overrides. The rest is from the authors themselves. I got lazy too an dropped a backup disc full of mods from a few months back instead of updated versions I'd have to download again, and you know have to "think about, read aboooot, noooo" If it needs work I just change it in the author's file or create an override file that uses whatever as a master an thus override changes near the end, stuff gets added an it gets messy an it's time to start over an try to make a better build. Build it, play it, break it, fix it, learn, trash it, and rebuild it.

PA lights (what a joke right) why isn't there a construction type rigging of 8 different lights on PA yet? Anyway it's a Object Modification, thus it would tie into the armor settings for the helmet, and Form ID lists from there I think. Say there are 8 types of lights, well there are 900 configurations of that crap, so they add in a list of all, that is added in the armor for generic things that are more preference based I guess. This object modification would be in the DLC.esm here, Nukaworld, an then all that would get broken by the changes we made to this already or the various forms used to produce it.

I can't really say. You would just turn off half the mods, then turn off the remaining half, keep doing that until the problem is fixed, an then keep going till you know which file is doing it, look inside that at what is causing it, an then make an override that would use the DLC.esm as a master an the later mod that made changes as a master, an copy over what parts of the form are needed in order to produce a working result that allows all. Though it would require actually knowing what this stuff means, so you might have to ask questions an look up stuff till you understand it at least partially.

Yeah I added it via console. The light node is behind the geometry. Lens flare plays off that incorrect location. Light still works, it just breaks the game if people look at it. I would theorize that nobody gave a s***, because nobody ever looks from that direction. Too busy getting their kicks looking the other way. It's not as hard to fix, because it's a node basically Nifscope 2.0 would adjust that incrementally. It would be better I'm guessing to make this as a request. I don't have a 3D art workstation completely set up right now for this game. Sorry I couldn't help more. If you liked PA though you should start working with the Object Modifications an crafting for it. You know make some custom PA parts. Normally anytime there is a problem with PA I park that s*** an roleplay fixing it which might help with the story you got going. Best of luck.

Well, i think my bug is much more annoying than yours, i've trying to fix it by looking over the mods files but haven't any sucess. Raider/overboss power armor got this bug, so i can see enemies from a very far distance. If someone here knows something about it, please tell me, this is freaking me out...
