FO4 Bounty Quests

Hello!

I wonder if modders have made or will make mod quests for 'bounties' -

they are hinted at in the base game, yet under-utilized (if you don't count the repetitive fetchquests by BoS or Minutemen etc: recover some sensors or eliminate all mutants at x,y,z location).

especially those 'a settler has been kidnap' fetch quest... ugh.

I have seen a couple of 'bounty' mods here and elsewhere, though it is often generic and not a story itself.

many ideas come to mind, especially from various FO:RPG games...

I am interested to hear from modder as much as from any FO fan;

maybe you have a good robobrain voice or protectron?

Above: Rusty, a scrap protectron.

"Maybe the Tea is still there..."

Rusty move slow, even for a protectron... because of his moral and ethics,

he cannot go on extending his life forever...

he want now only to see the bottom of Boston Bay.

His owner though want his return...

3000 caps is a lot for a scrap bot.

Why is Rusty so valuable?

Beneath that exterior, Rusty is a pre-war ex-Military protectron (a Vet).

his arm function much like a PipBoy for some area, and turrets will not attack as his

"friend or foe" transponder prevent him from being accidentally attacked.

Rusty may also know the loadouts of some locations.

he can be convinced to return to a settlement as a security guard.

Above: Nancy

"the damsel is the distress"

Initially mistaken for a deathclaw... until hunting parties encounter,

Nancy is a pre-war robo-brain. bulkier, and merging the versions of robobrain across

FO2, FO3, FONV and FO4...

she is no longer in full control of her body.

If nancy is not in control... then who is?

The player can;

kill Nancy, and collect the reward.

Immobilize Nancy, and uncover the source of the controller...

as

- a raider camp using Nancy to soften up a target prior to raiding,

- an unattended child in ruins playing with controls...

- the institute.

once restored, Nancy can become a player companion.

albeit, you do not collect a reward.

Nancy can carry 500lbs, and is armed with a flamethrower or plasma rifle arm.

thanks for reading.

@shingouki2002

thanks for some feedback -

i can do other things though

My FO4 code-fu is too weak to

one-person make a mod like that unfortunately hehe.

hence, I wondered if folks who have better code-fu,

could team up with folks who have no code-fu.

Perhaps an NPC could exist that you can just go to for Bounties? The chick from Valentines Detective Agency comes to mind, or maybe Whitechaple Charlie in the Third Rail. Could work in a similar way to the radiant quests from the NukaWorld Gang-Leaders where you can get a new one whenever you turn in the last.

@SlashSGT

thanks for some feedback! that is an interesting idea!

its not so much where you get the quest itself...

it's being able to do the quest :laugh:

that would be a lot of fun to see realized that way also -

NukaWorld is so close to realizing that...

I think people would prefer "Bounties" for immersion,

rather than "massacre this location" or

"retrieve generic settler" as fetchquests hehehe.

doing more missions/bounties for dodgy "whitechaple charlie"

would be a lot of fun!

extra quests for Nick Valentine would be fun - capturing folks alive etc.

it was hinted that 'the mysterious stranger' would be a bounty case...

similarly, Old Man Stockton seems a dodgy sort -

he might have a lot of missions too.

Supervisor Brown may also have bounties at Greygarden Farm

I envisaged it as each settlement generating radiant quests when you arrive -

the flophouse of 'candy' send you to retrieve some call girls...

the schoolhouse of 'books' need you to retrieve learning materials or tell of exploit etc,

the lawhouse need you to determine thing for thief or gunner captured etc.

being a 'regulator' in previous games of FONV etc,

that was fun, so a nod to that would be great too.

@aselnor

indeed - that is enjoyable!

if only folks could make more bounties and side-quest arc happen.

I love bethesda, obsidian, fallout in general -

though, to be honest, the DLC for FO4 was... it was not quite where a lot of folks imagined.

yet, they're so teasingly close with every other hint from in-game.

it is practically there!

as an aside,

thanks for the skyrim mods! they are excellent,

and enhance that game much also!

@all;

i receive inboxing from some folks - this brainstorming/mindmap thread is turning out to be awesome

you can make your extra poster if you want - feel free to print those,

and scrunch up or weather and age with tea-bag and make them have effects,

or post-process if you can make better poster etc...

they make great prompts for FO:RPGing!

if you come up with some poster of a similar style,

feel free to share them here too -

I do not have some sketches of a style similar to these bots,

yet for people... or for deathclaw etc.

it took a long time to find the excellent artist who does on dA

in a style that was consistent.

they did excellent work!

maybe some people bounties?

maybe some animal or item bounties? hehehe.

"wanted - murderous toaster"

(nod to FONV)

I am sure other artist can do much better work than even this -

the typewriter font would be broken, maybe keys don't work, so they must turn the page upside-down for a P to become a b, etc

maybe some make their ransom-note using decoupage from other wanted posters?

(I'm thinking truman-show-esque).
