Mindsettings
I want to port a hairstyle from Skyrim to Fallout 4. I'm really surprised that there are no tutorials on this. The closest thing I found was http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Porting_hairs_to_Fallout . This is a tutorial for Fallout 3. Could someone tell me whether I should follow the steps from the tutorial for Fallout 3?
radiumskull
Depends on where the hair geometry and textures are coming from. If you're talking about porting actual game models or other assets that come with Skyrim, no, you can't, because of legal/intellectual property reasons. Which may be why you can't find anything. However, if someone did create new original hair geometry for a Skyrim mod, you would need their permission to use those assets. And if you're going to create your own new hair models (even if based visually on Skyrim hair), then you're just creating new hair for Fallout 4. Rabbit1251
As a correction, you would not need the author's permission to use their work, but you would need their permission to post your port of their work. As for porting, these files are from my archives: "You'll have to look in your Fallout 3 folder - Go into the Textures and Meshes. Then copy them from there, to FONV folder.Go into the construction set and apply them to the game. There isn't any other things that would be good to have from FO3 - Since NV did a lot of improvements, more items and such. The only thing that didnt make it over from what i remember is the Enclave Hellfire." And: "To port plugins:-Create a blank plugin in the New Vegas GECK.-Move it to Fallout 3 data folder.-Open FOMM.-Open the blank plugin and the plugin you want to port in TESsnip.-Copy over the necessary entries (ARMO for armor, HAIR for hair, etc.).-Save and move the plugin back to your New Vegas data folder. This isn't foolproof, but it'll work for hair and eyes fine. You'll probably have to add the hair and eyes to each race manually." And from a Google search (You will need to certify that you are an adult to enter): http://www.loverslab.com/topic/56501-tutorial-for-converting-new-vegas-and-fallout-3-armors-to-fallout-4/ I hope that this helps. I might use some of these tips myself. The Rabbit
