davidlallen
Get FOMM, expand the original bsa into its thousands of individual files. Then you can reference the individual files in geck. You don't *need* to create bsa files to make mods; it is convenient for distribution but not required.

davidlallen
Get FOMM from newvegasnexus and read its documentation. You can both read and write bsa files using this.

davidlallen
Well, you can't. When you get a dialog box in geck which asks for the filename of a mesh, you can't give the filename of anything inside a bsa. You can only give the name of a file. Once you have entered the filename into the dialog box, geck can read it from the bsa fine. But in order to enter the filename into the dialog box, it must exist as a plain file. 1Monk
BTW, It's not necessary to have the real file in it's proper folder. The GECK just needs a with the correct name. Meaning, if you create a new record that points to an existing vanilla resource, there's no need to extract it from BSA, just make a dummy text file with the right name in the right place and point the GECK to it (just don't forget to delete it later).
