Questline gripe

With games of this type (Skyrim, Fallout3, Assins Creed etc.) I always like to do as many of the side-and other quests first before continuing the main quest-line. I've been playing a Nord warrior for about 2 weeks now, doing the quests not in any particular order. Sometimes switching from Thief Guild quest to Dark Brotherhood or mage stuff and then back to some of the "radiant" or miscellaneous quests. One thing that really bothers me is that the quest menu does not indicate which quest is a main storyline quest. I wish there would have been some indication I was doing Act 1, 2 or 3. Only by checking the walk-through or the Wiki did I now realize I am only 3 quests away from the end of the game, but my character is only level 38. To me that just really sucks. The only other option I have now is to abandon the main quest line, keep checking the wiki so that I don't accidentally continue it, and keep doing other stuff to develop my char and increase the perks.

*end rant*

It wasn't hard to stop the main quest at a certain point. Around level 48 I went as far as getting the Clear Skies shout and did not go up to see Parthanax. I know that to continue the main I have to make that visit. So now I get a boat load of dragons to fight and have another boat load of side quests to finish. Also I do a lot of random exploration. Keeps me busy for hours. It was the same thing with Oblivion, FO3, and FNV. You just have to do a little research to know where you want to hold the game.

Finishing the main quest has no bearing on the rest of the game - nothing major, just comments. Seems a bit silly to ask a guy who saves the world to go fetch a sword or something, but there's no change after you finish the quest. You still have dragons, even named ones. I don't see any reason to delay finishing it.

Ummm... Im pretty sure it something shows up on the quest menu, it's close to the quest name really, and you shouldn't delay it, the game won't end, and nothing really happens, honestly I was kinda disapointed because even after saving the world you don't have true respect, where the hell is the radiant engine wich made the world change based on your decisions? It's like fake advertisment lol

when looking at the named quests in your journal look at the scroll work on either side of the quest name while reading the description/ info. if its dragons then its the main quest. dadric quests have a oblivion symbol in the scroll work. Imperial quest have the akatosh dragon symbol, stomcloaks have a bear
