Transferring to Another Computer

steam has no issues with you installing on another computer.

Just don't try to log into steam with both computers at the same time - steam gets cranky about this

and transferring much of your install via flash drive will save you tons of install time

remember to "validate files" afterwords - builds registry entries and lets steam know everything is proper.

NOTE - this presumes that YOU are using the game on both computers - and that you use the same steam account for both installs

Oh, sorry. Should've clarified. I'm getting a new PC. Need to transfer my game from my old PC to my new one. I won't be using Steam on both PCs.

no problem, that is what Steam is known for -- you own the licence -- new computer -> installs on demand

Um, say... is there a possible way to keep my Fallout: New Vegas files on a flash drive and use them to play on any PC I want? Essentially, New Vegas in travel size? Or do the files have to be located in Program Files to work?

With Steam, they have to be.

Without Steam, you could carry around your game with mods and saves, but still have to install the basic game first.

Although... if you can install Windows XP on a flash drive as live-boot (you must have a mighty one to even think about loading FONV there) (I think it's legal if you own WinXP retail), then you can install Fallout there, Steam or no Steam, boot from that drive and play.
