charwo
Realistically, the world would have recovered much more than in Fallout 4. It's one of the things I HATE about Bethesda's vision of the east coast. But given A Boston start, I'd figure out where the civilized places are, due to trade routes and such. I'd get a job as a teacher, save up some money and take a boat to NCR territory. Yes this means a trip through the straights of Magellan, but in a pre-industrial civilization I have no useful skills at all, shooting people if my feet are cured by future science. The mid level clerical work needed by the rebuilding NCR or even the civilian side of Caesar's Legion lends itself towards my degree. Alternatively, making my way to Vault 81 to apprentice for something technical and useful, from repair, to robotics to doctoring and then trying to make my way to NCR territory would be my goal. They'd take me because I'm a Vault Dweller, and because I'm already college educated, I'm sure there's something they could have me do.
bmt12
Well where I'm at in Houston would be a flooded jungle so I would probably go north west, not that they would have built a vault in this area...just not too far north to Wyoming where all the nuke silos would have been targeted. I would stay away from the big cities altogether, scavenging in small town's walmarts and hardware stores but settling in some obscure town in the rural rocky mountain region. robhartman9
I am a master electrician from northern Canada. I think I would just stay in the vault. Polar bear and grizzly yao guai. Radioactive moose and timber wolves. Giant beavers building massive fortified positions. Wood buffalo that can overturn a tank, gonna need a howitzer to take down one of those. The vault has power and clean water I could work with that.

TheGadget1945
I often thought that in a "Walking Dead" scenario , I would find an APV or SWAT van and basically live in it, not responding to any calls for "help" from people who could be robbers or infected. In FO4 you have plenty of APVs lying around apparently undamaged but the BOS seemingly don't have the means to repair them. That would be a good way to survive in the Commonwealth.
