Mythic Dawn armour causing CTD

Hi,

 

I'm having a problem when NPC's summon the Mythic Dawn armor which is causing a CTD. I'm not using any mods that enable first person use of the armor or any that modify it, that I know of.

 

Does anybody have any idea what might be the problem?

I would start by disabling beautiful people, and all the eve stock equipment replacers to see if that does anything for you. If you still have the issue, the perhaps disable Mighty Magic. BTW your version of Might Magic, is it the Reborn version or the normal? If it is the normal then try and change over to the Reborn version to see if that helps out.

I'm using Mighty Magicka Reborn so that should be okay.

 

I'm pretty sure that you are correct on this but the problem is that simply disabling these mods doesn't seem to have any effect, at least un-checking them in Wrye-Bash does nothing.

 

I only installed beautiful people because TNR was giving me headaches with googly eyes and I needed the meshes&textures from it to solve that issue. Perhaps unchecking BP and the EVE stuff and rebuilding the bashed patch might do it, hopefully.

No luck with any of that I'm afraid. I disabled EVE replacers, Mighty Magicka, TNR, BP, and my HGEC body and it still made no difference. Something in there changed the way that Oblivion was loading the Mythic Dawn armor mesh itself which could not be changed by disabling those mods and rebuilding the bashed patch. The problem is certainly with one of the above since I began a new game before installing those and it ran fine in the tutorial but it can't be fixed through Wrye Bash.

 

I don't have enough knowledge about the mechanics of modding to be able to try anything else so I'm re-installing but I will test and post the cause when I find it for future reference since it's a *censored* of an issue to solve.

When you disable a mod but don't uninstall the resources (meshes, textures and sounds) the game will still load and use those resources if they share the same path as the vanilla equivalent. The game will just consider the disabled mods resources as replacers. Disable and uninstall is the drill.

Thanks for the advice guys. I tried replacing the armor with the stock stuff (meshes and textures) from the Oblivion vanilla BSA but to no avail.

 

It was almost certainly one of the EVE replacers causing the problem but I can't replicate it so goodness only knows what the specific cause was. Anyway, I have everything working fine now (until the next SNAFU). Except for Deadly Reflex giving me a missing mesh balloon for decapitated Mythic Dawn assassins, lmao, those guys are more trouble in mods than they are in the game but I think I can solve this one.

Just had an idea on this issue.

 

What if what I had wasn't a mod-conflict at all but an .ini file issue? In particular, specular occlusion? Just a thought, I've had similar issues before after tweaking my .ini file.

 

If anyone has the same problem in future if might be worth restoring their .ini to default.
