A REAL past for the Courier!

Having played through LR a few times now I have become more disappointed with it each time especially the much hyped reveal of the Couriers origins. I envisioned all kinds of interesting things about this mysterious past and awaited the answers happily....only to receive a lame vague set of answers that really tell you little more than you already knew.

What you already knew:

1.) You are a Courier and somebody wanted to do you wrong.

2.) The one that wanted to do you wrong is another Courier with a mysterious past that many people seem to know (earliest mention outside the initial reveal of this mysterious other Courier, Dead Money, Christine mentions him once she can talk again if you follow all her conversation paths).

3.) You will meet that Courier in the Divide and the meeting will be legendary enough that even isolated folks in places like the Sierra Madre and Zion hear of it.

What you find out:

1.) You are a Courier.

2.) Apparently the entire population of the Mojave has amnesia, as you were always going back and forth through the Divide to the Mojave enough to have created a well known trade route. So they should recognize you and the news of what happened at the Divide (just a few years before apparently) should still be big news in the Mojave, and everyone should want you to explain what is happening, you being the famous Courier that started the trade route after all.

3.) Many other Couriers (and possibly you, that is waved aside by Ulysses as unimportant) really work as Caesar's eyes and ears, his secret spies and assassins.

4.) Someone decided that the budding nation forming in the town you helped build with your trade route should die..and used you to do it by planting a device covered in old world markings of the base in the Divide (sounds like a damaged Enclave A.I. module from the description, I thought perhaps a prototype for President Eden or another A.I. president).

5.) That you have history beyond that...but you aren't going to hear it.

So my request is for some mod to explore the history of the Courier in the Mojave...I know making the npcs talk like they know you, as many should, is not gonna happen...but adding npcs that would; along with some quests (or a quest-line) to rediscover your past in the Mojave and perhaps something of your NCR times and time in the Divide with the new USSA.

I like deciding the couriers past myself, actually. I think most people do.

This.

My current playthrough courier is an in actual fact an NCR spy/double agent, sent to aid the take-over of the Mojave and if possible, remove threats to the NCR - main idea is to get close enough to Caesar to assassinate him without suspicion...

That said, it would be nice if there was a mod similar to Fallout Wanderer's edition in Fallout 3, (aside from all the weapons and stuff which were incompatible with RH Ironsights) - where you could wake up from the "dream" of the birth sequence, build you character, stats etc, then choose your history (e.g Talon merc, Brotherhood outcast, raider or whatever) and then it would place you in the world with weapons, clothing etc in a place where those people were

I'd love a mod like that.

Lordflashheart (love seeing another Blackadder fan btw) I would love to see that too...especially since the Doc's house is so damn unstable for me. I do enjoy deciding for myself some of the characters history but it is annoying to have a total (or near total) blank there.

What I and others I know are very curios about...what is the characters origin...basiclly where where you born and what-not, as my brother puts it "WTF I'm not a Vaultdweller?"

I just want something done for you to be able to discover your origins...heck if someone can do it and give you several different origins depending on something to choose which...like a trait/perk or whatever to determine what your origin was and letting you do a questline to learn a bit of your early history. What you did between setting off into adventure and getting shot in the head can remain msterious and patchy enough to give plenty of 'how did i get here' answers for the rp minded.
