That said, tabbing back to Skyrim can be fun as it takes two cycles of the window manager to get the Skyrim screen to come alive again, as the first

pass results in a black screen.

 

If this offends anyone then my job is done for the day.

When you say that it takes two cycles of window manager to get alive again, can you alaberate please? This might be my problem, I get the black screen too, but don't know how to get it back, I just end up having to right click to close the tab at the bottom of screen and reload, I use windows 7.

What I do for alt-tabbing back in is I click on the skyrim program, hit alt tab then holding alt down I right click and it brings the game back up no problems.

Do you play in windowed mode? It seems to go auto to full screen for me, what I mean is when you say "I click on the skyrim program" how do I do this if not playing in windowed mode?

just adding my 2 septim's here...

 

 

i can ALT+TAB out of skyrim just fine. when trying to go BACK into skyrim, i click the tab on the task bar, it brings up a blank window, then I ALT+TAB INTO skyrim (basically alt+tab twice into skyrim) and it works 100% of the time. tried this on my friends comp cause he was having the same problem, and this worked for him too.

 

 

just try alt+tab twice to get back into skyrim, otherwise try some of the other people's suggestions.

Well I'll try.

If I select the game minimized on the task bar the game comes up but as a black screen.

If I then hit Alt Tab and get the Windows Popup that lists the running tasks I just keep alt tabbing until

the game is selected again and it then pops back to the game with the display showing as desired.

 

One can also use the mouse to select the listed item in the Alt Tab menu but that takes extra fiddling so I just keep Alt Tabbing until the game is highlighted and hit return.

Perhaps I didn't state my problem quite right

crash may not have been the right word, i was getting the black screen (im such a newb :blink: )

someone here had mentioned CLICKING the skyim tab in the bottom taskbar then ALT+TAB to bring it to life,

that was precisely what i needed to do! :thumbsup:

Been trying out lots of things but unfortunately still not working for me, I have asked a couple of friends to have a look too with no joy. :sad:

No idea why it won't change back from the black screen, I have tried everything suggested but I think it must be something weird that I will never figure out ....so I give up.

But just wanted to say thanks for your responses and trying to help, as soja said this is a fantastic forum with a really helpful community. :biggrin:

I don't know what you guys are doing or what i'm doing but i can alt+tab in and out of Skyrim just fine(I once alt+tabbed out for 5 hours,hibernated the PC and came back to Skyrim's TESV.exe in deep sleep at 5MB RAM usage yet successfully alt+tabbed back in after about a 2 minute load time where it got everything back into RAM)

That was just my 2 septims.
