Qwinn
dgm22: Thank you! That's what intellectual honesty looks like. Really really appreciated - as is you doing the research work to establish that they are indeed knights. Much respect, sir. Or ser. Whatever  LO005: "A Fallen Templar" (v3.0 BETA - REDACTED): This quest's name has been changed to "A Fallen Knight", and all other pointers to Ser Henric being a Templar changed to Knight, in order to be consistent with Ser Donall's dialogue and the "Knight's Note" that clearly identify him as a Knight serving the Arl of Redcliffe, not a Templar. (v3.0 POST BETA): This fix has been redacted because after five days of heated argument and discussion, in my judgment the vanilla game is entirely internally consistent. All Templars aside from recruits are also knights (credit to dgm22 of the Nexus forums for doing the research to prove this conclusively), correctly bear the title 'Ser', and Redcliffe does have Templars assigned to its Chantry. It also provides a much needed explanation for why those Templars are not there to help defend the village. Nothing in this quest is inconsistent with that or any other game lore, and I am deeming it Not A Bug. The credit to you in there is totally up to you! If you don't want your name associated to an outcome you initially didn't prefer, I'll be happy to remove it, but IMO it is well deserved. Qwinn
And to hopefully leave this episode behind us with a bit of humor: My own little piece of fan fiction. SCENE: The Search has just set forth, and is making camp after their first day's march. Ser Donall and Ser Hendric are approached by a merchant. Merchant, to Ser Henric: "Greetings, Ser Knight! Would you and your fellow knights be interested in my wares?"Ser Henric: "Perhaps... wait, hold on a second. What do you mean "fellow knights"? Ser Donall isn't a "fellow" knight."Ser Donall: "That... that kind of hurts, Henric."Merchant: "But he is a knight, ser. I see the heraldry on his armor right there..."Ser Henric: "Well, okay, perhaps technically he's a knight. But it's not like he's a *Templar* knight. That's totally different!"Ser Donall: "It is?"Ser Henric: "Of course it is!"Merchant: "Why, ser?"Ser Henric: "Because it is! It... it's obvious, isn't it? Why should we be lumped together with these pagans?"Ser Donall: "Pagans?! Some of my men spend more time in the Chantry than some of yours do!"Ser Henric: "What? Not possible... oh wait. Yes, There is that Perth fellow, isn't there?"Ser Donall: "Yes, he's right over there by the fire, making little symbols of the Maker out of some twigs, an apple and two pebbles."Ser Henric: "Alright, fair enough. You're not pagans."Ser Donall: "I should hope not!"Ser Henric: "But you're still not my "fellow knight!"Merchant: "All right, all right Ser. Would you and your fellow completely different kind of knights who you bear no kinship or association with want to see my wares?"Ser Henric: "Eh... that's going to get kind of cumbersome rather quickly, isn't it?"Ser Donall: "Yes, I should think so."Ser Henric: "Very well. Fellow knights it is, if it'll make this transaction go quicker."Merchant: "Thank you, sers! Now here I have some Maker symbols constructed out of the finest pomegranates and rare gemstones in place of the usual apples and pebbles..." The End. AdenYeshua
That's what intellectual honesty looks like.Or agreeing with you looks like, up for interpretation. But glad to see you're in a better mood none the less. @dmg22 - Interested to hear your thoughts on how expeditions work under your current understanding of the Templar order. As you know they are made to be completely addicted to Lyrium, this is an intentional means of control to keep the Templars in order, or in line, whatever the case may be it is my belief that long range lone expeditions open up serious plot holes. Many themes are in fact taken from Star Trek (not only the actors) in Deep Space 9 soldiers were made to be addicted to a medication by the founders a medication that only they could provide to keep their loyalty, in line, and prevent them from leaving the founders. The Votra passed out the medication and one was assigned to each branch. The exact same idea with the Chantry, I assume. As we are never quite told how it all takes place one can logically conclude since it works as follows. The "Mothers" of the chantry are much like the Vorta, they must be the ones that administer and pass out the Lyrium, as they are not the ones made addicts. One could only assume a Templar is not allowed to get Lyrium from a different branch as any Templar could get more than his fair share. Also making the Lyrium dependency on the Chantry void. This next idea requires a small leap in thinking but one could only assume each Chantry branch is only given enough Lyrium to last until the next shipment. With all this in the next order, else risking that branch not needing the Order. I imagine when a large order is carried out Mothers travel with the Templars as shown. With all this in mind, how do you propose "go find the Urn" or ANY long range order was carried out? How would a Templar acquisition more than his allotment? If Templars could stockpile and ask for more what would be the need or use of the already introduced mechanic? One branch could just requisition as much Lyrium for a lifetime under the guise of finding a holy relic and be done with it. There's a dual purpose I thought for handing around the Chantry, it's to get resupplied to. This theory of expedition goes against that, drones aren't dropping of Lyrium to knights in the forest, hills, mountains, wherever. How would you explain Bioware's introduced mechanic works? or is it just left open? Edited June 16, 2017 by AdenYeshua
Qwinn
Crap, you're right. And Alistair goes the *entire game* without using Lyrium even once! In fact, according to his wiki page, the last time he takes it is as a recruit! And yet he keeps his power! That's clearly ridiculous. In the next release, I'll be removing Alistair from the game. Might take me a bit. Landsmeet is gonna be tricky. Edited June 16, 2017 by Qwinn
AdenYeshua
Sarcasm aside there is a very clear explanation for that Lyrum addiction could take time. In certainly is shown to have a build up effect, as for their "powers" it is long understood and commented on the Lyrium is NOT required for the Templar abilities. It is used as a means of control. AdenYeshua
Lyrium addiction doesn't work THAT quick or they be made junkies by the end of the Fade.
Qwinn
Resolving Templar logistics for lyrium distribution on extended marches, like combat mechanics, morphs, and textures, is outside of the scope of this mod.
AdenYeshua
Oh no doubt, I was speaking more to dmg22 is recent enlightenment might prove some insight more then just leaving it up and open. Maybe since the man obviously speaks your language you can learn something to from his response. Edited June 16, 2017 by AdenYeshua
TLymond
@Qwinn; Really, really wish that you could set a certain user as "blocked from posting" in a forum thread the way you can in a mod's comment thread. Would have shortened this one by several pages and saved you much aggro. Oh, well. When you're ready, ask the moderators to lock this topic with a pointer to the mod's page and you'll be able to do that (as well as delete ignorant or inflammatory posts) yourself. Perhaps you ignored the "Invincible ignorance" "stupid" "the Melodrama" and various other posts have thrown my way, looks like you have. Unless the invincible ignorance was directed at himself as it's unclear since that is the only thing posted. If it is you should cut that out name calling is not nice. As I'm sure you've noticed in your infinite wisdom this entire topic has been hijacked, funny enough somebody can make a pretty good case for this being the most off topic, derailed a thread on the Nexus. This topic was about a guy who couldn't find a link to the 2.0 fix on Biowars forum. Anything beyond that is off topic. The Sad thing is we don't know if that man ever solved his issue. lol Anyway, you can't technically "take" that man's thread away from him. As the topic is no longer about even 2.0 fix I'd recommend it's very own support topic. Also, backseat moderation (what your doing) is also against the rules. You've also overused the word aggro. May I recommend "Qwinn Ultimate Fixpack 3.0 BETA Discussion and Support Thread"? It's a little long in the tooth but I think it gets the job done. The acronym "QUF" could also technically be used... but it sounds like "Qwiff" which is not good. @AdenYeshua; If the shoe fits... :whistling:
Qwinn
So, sialivi, I spent another couple of hours working on the elf in the Circle Tower. Even found a new function to play with (SetPosition) that allowed me to place the elf at any exact coordinates I wanted. And it just won't work. CANNOT force him to actually be on the chair again. So, what I tried now is I'm having him stand where he gets shifted to, rather than sitting on something invisible, pointed a little more toward the book on the table with an animation to occasionally bend over looking like he's reading it, then standing for a few seconds, then poring over it again. It looks okay, I guess, but I don't know if it's more distracting to the player than the original sitting on air - cause I gotta admit, I talked to that guy a few times and never noticed he was shifting off the chair. What do you think? Oh, and good news, I did manage to get Sighard to turn around in the Noble Tavern. I'll post the readme description later. Won't be around for the next 24 hours or so. Father's Day stuff. Edited June 17, 2017 by Qwinn
