levethian
How would one go about introducing a reputation system for factions/groups/individuals within Skyrim? If Skyrim is ever going to feel more responsive to a players actions, it needs a tool to start tabulating what your actions are and who it effects, in numerical format. The initial system would simply be a counter, to keep a note of your characters reputations. Later, modded responses to these reputation numbers can be added. And added, and added, until it feels like NPC's recognize players. The intention is that it would eventually be used to enhance the feeling of progression up or down Skyrim's social ladder. High or low reputations with certain factions could unlock dialogue, quests, cheap service, refusals of service, promotion within a guild, etc. Modding these responses would be the bulk of the work, but the reputation system itself should be created to give these responses an anchor. Completing any quest would increase and/or decrease reputations. For example, returning the Golden Claw might change your reputation as follows: People of Winterhold +5 (or whatever number is deemed 'balanced')Imperial +2Bandits -3 Choosing a High Elf as your race might increase your reputation with other High Elves and the Thalmor, but reduce your reputation with others, especially with Nords. This, I guess, requires the assigning of reputation change numbers to all quests & races. The factions for reputation change I envisage would include: Mages CollegeThieves GuildDark BrotherhoodCompanionsGreybeardsBards CollegeImperial LegionStormcloaksThalmor Jarl of SolitudeJarl of DawnstarJarl of WinterholdJarl of MorthalJarl of MarkarthJarl of FalkreathJarl of WhiterunJarl of RiftenJarl of Winterhelm People of HaafingarPeople of The palePeople of WinterholdPeople of HjaalmarchPeople of The ReachPeople of FalkreathPeople of WhiterunPeople of The RiftPeople of Eastmarch AltmerBosmerDunmerOrcNordImperialBretonKhajiitArgonianRedguard BanditsSilver HandsRenegade MagesNecromancersGiantsDaedra PrincesAnimalsDragonsetc & Some kind of overall 'fame' stat for player consumption. I don't recall there being a reputation mod for Oblivion, but I hope it's possible for Skyrim! Edited December 15, 2011 by levethian
MrDidz
Has anyone managed to resolve this issue yet? I am in the process of building an evil Dark Elf character, and so by definition I'm not going to be rubbing shoulders with those disgusting Nordic scum in their smellie taverns and hovels. But at the same time I am going to need followers and minions to interact with and do some of the dirty work. So, how do I 'befriend' the low life that populate the less sickeningly twee area's of Skyrim. At the very least I need them to accept me as a potential ally in their trivial little lives, but ideally I'd like to persuade them that following me is a sensible option, which will enable them to share just a tiny part of the glory I expect to recover for my race and family. So, what we are talking about are Necromancers; Bandits; Renegade Mages; perhaps even Giants, Dragon's might eb going a bit too far. Though in the past my ancestors would have ridden dragons into battle, i am told that since their release in to the wild they have grown too independent and stupid to be trained. A shame though. KKrueger
This would be great. MrDidz, I'm creating a character just like yours, evil Dark Elf, this evening. I've been looking around for mods to affect reputation in this way since Skyrim came out and there really is nothing as yet that covers the facilities mentioned by levethian.
