So I got skyrim on my new laptop and updated to 1.3. heres my question...

I looked for the newest driver, because my graphics ingame were all jacked up. i found the newest one, but it tells me my OS is incompatable.. and I know its not. So wtf? do I need to uninstall the older one first?

edit: OK well it seems after rolling back, it is now telling me the driver im about to install is older than my current... which raises more "wtfs"...

edit 2: Oh and Im running an intel i3 2.4 ghz and windows 7 32bit

Which video card are you using and what are the driver version numbers?

im running an intel hd graphics card.. so says the device manager. i forget the driver version i rolled back from, but the one i have now is 8.15.10.2559..

so it is newer than what i was trying to install.. i wonder why when i rolled back it went back to the newest driver...

so after tweaking the settings on my game i guess ive narrowed my question down to these..?

is there a more up-to-date driver than that, and what settings could i run the game on with my rig?

If all you have is the Intel video chipset then you'll be lucky to play the game on the absolute lowest settings, if at all. Are you sure you don't also have an iNvidia or ATI mobile chipset in their as well? Laptops don't run Beth games particularly well anyway.

At any rate the incompatible OS probably means you tried to install a 64 bit driver on your 32 bit machine. Go back here-

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+controllers&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+HD+Graphics&ProdId=3231&LineId=1101&FamilyId=39 - and D/L the Win 7 32 bit version but before you install it go here -

[Edit: 3Dguru no longer has it go here - http://download.cnet.com/Driver-Sweeper/3000-2094_4-75219868.html - and install Driver Sweep and run it first.

Here's a video of what your in for -

I'm so retarded... I left the ati dxd9.dll and atimudblahblah.dll in my skyrim folder. :D I took them out and now I'm running the game pretty well on medium with max item, actor, and object fade sliders. Lowered the res on shadows and disabled the grass. It is still just a tad choppy but it is definitely playable now. On my toshiba I was barely playable on the lowest of low settings.
