Emc209i
Not that I would second guess an "experienced helper", but I've been reading the 285.62 release notes while I wait for the download, and support for the older cards is limited to a cuda update, newer physx definitions, and stereoscopic support. All third party drivers, which is nothing an update to those three programs outside of the GPU core drivers wouldn't fix. Although I suppose this is a fast inclusive fix. Ok download's finished, here's hoping this quick fixes the problem. And also for stability for the ol' 275.
Emc209i
Well I'm back, with GREAT news. Deleted both diplay drivers inside the device manager. Started in safe mode and used Driver Cleaner Pro 1.5 to scrub what was left of the Nvidia software. Restarted and installed the new driver set. Restarted. Set SLI back up. And ladies and gentlemen, I have particles! Thanks maboru for talking me into updating the driver. I'll admit, I was skeptical a driver update would fix the problem, but you were right. Thank you also Sanyix, I wish the driver update would have solved your problem. Perhaps ATI will release a new set soon which will eliminate the need to use the D3D9 profile to trick the game. Let it be known, that older drivers can be the cause of no particles. /Solved. Edited December 17, 2011 by Emc209i

Deviol
I have same issues her with an Ati radeon hd3850. The water is too transparent (btw the "correct" isn't looking good though that waaay too opaque), no dust, no fog, no smoke, but except these everything is okay. I've updated video drivers, and the game itself, nothing changed. There are those d3d9.dll "fps improver fixes" that were used for fallout3 and nv, and really improved the frame rate without loss of quality, and fakes the gpu recognition to a geforce 8800 GS. Now these are working with skyrim, but they aren't improve the fps, but form me this brought back the opaque water, and the smoke/dust etc effect. But still i want to know why i need to use these hacks to get all effects... Here is the dll extract it to your skyrim installation's root. Then the launcher should say that it set the graphics quality to something, then set the graphics as you wish, and play the game. Thank you very very much, my friend! I worked like a charm for me! :) You are great! Btw, my videocard is Radeon HD3870x2 and next time - i'm buyin Geforce :D
