theAargh
I'm a new modder and I've been playing around with armor textures for a bit, but now I want to make some changes to the mesh itself (specifically, removing those skirt/thigh-plate things on the Nightingale armor). Is there any easy way to 'disable' parts of a mesh like that (or use a transparent texture maybe, to make it invisible?), or would I have to actually remodel part of the mesh myself? I know how to extract the mesh, but I've never used Blender or 3DSMax or anything like that, so I'd rather avoid that for now if it's at all possible. Phate3
Painting them black in the alpha channel of the textures should make them invisible. I think so at least, try it :).
CampanaAliquanta
You need to add an alpha layer to the mesh in nifskope and then cover the relevant parts of the texture. I haven't tried it myself so I can't give you a detailed step by step instruction, but if you check the wiki (either the one here or the nifskope one) there might be more information there. Also, if you are replacing armour my understanding is you can't actually delete or add new vertices anyway.
theAargh
I've tried to mess around with adding an alpha layer, but when I follow this tutorial and try to see it ingame, the game gets stuck in the loading screen.
