phaota
I'm glad you brought up companions. I forgot them. They have issues that need mods to correct. When you sit down somewhere, they should do the same instead of just standing in one point staring at your character. Also, if you accidentally hit them with a spell or weapon, it shouldn't make them attack you. This doesn't happen all the time, but more often than it should. The other day, I was in a fight with Foresworn at Treva's Watch and my companion suddenly switched sides and would not stop attacking me. I had to kill her, then use the resurrect command to bring her back to semi-normal. Of course, I had to run her down in order to get her to follow me again since she oddly started to dash off to somewhere else. She lost all the weapons and gear I gave her as well, which really didn't make sense. All of it should have still been in her inventory or on the ground near her previous death position. Either way, that was a very annoying glitch situation. Companions get stuck in fight stance mode at times after a battle, even if there are no enemies nearby. You can try talking with them, but do not receive a "Follow Me" dialog option. Normally, I just leave them behind, knowing they will eventually catch up. I agree that the menus need reworking, mainly in the area of catagorization. Especially in the favorites menu. Each catagory should be separated by a line - spells, weapons (broken up into their various items like all swords together, etc.), apparel (same as the weapons, items should be arranged according to what they are, like hats/helmets together, etc.), potions, and so on. Would make it much easier to quickly find what you are looking for. NPCs need to show bodily emotion when speaking instead of just being rigid for the most part. If the voice actor is inflecting emotion that would clearly indicate gesturing with the arms, hands or moving about to get the point across, the NPC ought to be showing this. Instead, you get strongly done voice acting with an NPC character playing statue. That's just wrong.
Fatalmasterpiece
It's funny how Todd said merging pants and tops in clothing and armor was so you could fit more npcs on the screen for battles and such. Yay so now instead of an epic battle with 4 soldiers storming the gates I can have one with 8! /sarcasm If major battles couldn't be done right, they should have been left out all together. Horses are useless I'm the leader of the thieves guild yet no one seems to notice or change in the actual thieves guild. The only recognition you get for completing quest lines are that guards psychicly know you are in a faction and annoyingly point it out to you elbow jab style. abaris
It's funny how Todd said merging pants and tops in clothing and armor was so you could fit more npcs on the screen for battles and such. Yay so now instead of an epic battle with 4 soldiers storming the gates I can have one with 8! /sarcasm I hope noone actually believed that. It always comes up when some, in fact any, game developer tries to justify why there's less customisation. It's coming right from the particular PR department where high paid suits ponder over the right phrases to capture the common moron's understanding. As for the companions - they're stuck somewhere between being useless and a burden. It's one of the many things where they had the right idea only to drop the ball before the finish line. In fact, all the so called roleplaying elements give you that impression. Strong start, but sadly nothing really made it into the finished game. pikoso26
I have to say the lack of being able to play with my friends is annoying... something so broad and "sandboxy" as this should be shared with people... Other than that, the dull greys, browns, greens... It's so... boring. There's nothing 'pretty.' sure, the graphics are the best most games have ever seen... but it's bland. If you're gonna make graphics that make the hard-core graphic crowd c** with excitement, at least go with some color. Other than visual, the bugs. Some are highly amusing... others are just so aggravating that I ragequit. example of a funny glitch: The other thing? The dragons. They AREN'T DRAGONS. They're Wyverns. Anyone who grew up on D&D will tell you this. While I know it's a "Mythological creature" and there isn't any rules that say that they HAVE to be 4 legged, it still rightly bothers me the amount of Wyverns that have been in media as of late and passed off as Dragons. Anyone who has played D&D 3.5 and lower will agree that Wyverns are the stupid buck-tooth cousin to Dragons, and really ... an intelligent Wyvern makes my head explode. Xcept this isnt D&D and Bethesda can do whatever they please about how their dragons look like. Go play D&D if you cant take it. - Immersion breakers-Continuity errors-Short and dumbed down questlines for console gamers (dear god this gets worse each year gaming gets more retarded) Edited December 26, 2011 by pikoso26
macole
1. STEAM2. Smithing. It is totally baffling how one can wake up one morning and can craft Dwemer armor and weapons? From where does one learn an art that has been lost for thousands of years? Makes no sense at all. 3. Consoleitis.4. Oh, and one last thing; the infernal excuse that's been popping up since Daggerfall, "there's so much going on in the game you have to expect bugs, crashes and hang-ups." Really? In what other industry would this kind of performance be tolerated or be considered the norm? It does look great though and can hold your attention. phaota
Agreed on Steam. Totally annoying program that doesn't need to be involved in the game process. Normally, I turn it off while playing Skyrim. If you are not familiar with doing this, here's how. Start the game normally, then CTRL-ALT-DEL back to Windows Task Manager. Kill Steam in the processes. Close the T.M., then click your minimized Skyrim bar in the Taskbar. If the game doesn't launch back, like mine does, click the main desktop once more and then again on the minimized Skyrim bar. It should jump back into the game, now without Steam being active. But, I would prefer the damn thing not even loading at all right from the start. Thanks for sharing that absolutely hilarious glitch video Pikos. Had me laughing for the whole thing. The cat acted like a deflated balloon. LOL
nitevision92
The player character always stares out into space, even when talking to other NPCs, who can at least manage to turn their heads in my direction.
a7x5631
What's wrong with Steam? It auto updates the game (optional but convenient for me), talking to friends easily in game, screenshots are easy, if the game breaks you can verify the files instead of completely reinstalling, and without it I wouldn't have been playing 5 minutes after the game launched at 12am. Then again, I've owned Source games for a very long time, so I've gotten used to Steam. Digital downloads are just the best imo.

phaota
Yeah, I didn't even want to get involved with that cannibalism cult quest and still haven't even completed it. Same for a few other negative aspect ones.
