GECK assert error (line 1996)

I don't have any mod. I had a small .esp I made 2-3years ago but I removed it anyway with this last try.

I did what you told me. Uninstalled GECK, used the .exe from above, then reinstalled GECK + update. Ran the steam verify, added the fake patch file, same error.

Provide me with a screen shot of the directory where the geck is installed at. Include the address bar ,do not clip the image.

I need to see all the files in the root just bellow the last yellow folder in the tree.

Right click the properties of the new engine and get the version ID

here is what I mean, just like this shows;

There isn't much to see. I installed the game through steam (then changed the directory as per advice earlier), installed and patched the geck, and that's it. I just started the game to see if it worked, and apparently it works (at least up to the main menu screen). I then did what you asked me to do, and nothing else.

The pictures are fairly big, thus the spoiler. My windows is in French, but I don't think this will be much of an issue.

I made it work. Apparently I derped a bit and when I tried to see if FO3 worked, I didn't go further than the main menu. As it happen, it didn't work further. Apparently it's related to NVDIA drivers, Win10 AU not supporting FO3 anymore.

It can be solved by using an older NVDIA driver, or by using mods. Since I want to keep my drivers up to date, I used the mod option:

download/install FOSE :

http://fose.silverlock.org/

then

http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/53635/?tab=1&navtag=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nexusmods.com%2Fnewvegas%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D53635%26preview%3D&pUp=1

apparently you can use the mod manager to install the plugin. If you do manually, put the NVSE file into data, and change its name to FOSE.

The game should work. Onto GECK.

You need Geck powerup, which was linked in the first page. Install it, and run using FOSE (geckpu-fose).

I just try, and apparently it worked. Loaded a random gun, check the textures and no issues whatsoever.

Actually not but if it makes you happy, ok then.

It's Halloween here, tricker treatrers , Oct fest.

BTW, NVSE Opt code can't function in Fo3...but hey push it all you can.

Well, without : doesn't work (neither Geck nor Fo3). With : works. Also, from the NVSE page, they clearly state it works with FO3 (alongside NV) :

Fixes the Windows 10 Anniversary Update + up-to-date Nvidia / AMD video driver crashes / issues for the following:

Fallout New Vegas

Fallout New Vegas No Gore (German)

Fallout 3

Fallout 3 No Gore (German)

Oblivion

GECK (New Vegas)

GECK (Fallout 3)

Construction Set (Oblivion)

And yes, it makes me happy because it fixes my issue. I've been using the geck now, working on it, and so far no issue, which is much better than crashing everytime I want to edit an item. Also, I can play the game (granted didn't go as far as the BB gun part), which is much better than crashing when starting a new game.

That's not a trick (why would I do that ? Really ? I don't see the point).

So yes, believe it or not, it works, at least for me. Now, I posted this in case anyone else had the issue, and found this post. They are free to try this solution.

Anyway, thanks for your help and pixelhate's.

Just to clarify, the OP did not download and install New Vegas Script Extender. The link actually goes to New Vegas Anti Crash, which does indeed work with Fallout 3.

What the OP actually did is open to question, since his/her last post is full of incorrect information.
