Is it worth buying ?

The overall Gameplay is much easier and more streamlined than either Oblivion or Morrowind. The quest's aren't particularly long, and you can power through the 'guilds' in an hour or so each if you really go all out on a low difficulty setting. That said, there are a royal s*** tonne of things to do, and you can spend easialy 80-100 hours running about doing side missions and bounties. And that's all before the Construction Set comes out and the community gets to play with the workings of the game.

I really can't recoment Skyrim enough. I view the $70.00 for the game as a steal, since you can probably get 3-4 games worth of playtime out of it, and many times more depending on what the community decides they want to do with it.

I don't think so, no. I've played it this long only cause I got it, but... I don't think I'll be able to play it even up to January. It just doesn't have very good replayability for me, and overall... it was pretty underwhelming. It felt very unfinished to me. Like, how Babette has no real dialog and the way the main quest ends, and many other things...

I just feel like... I dunno. Maybe wait 6 months or a year for a wealth of good mods to be out, then go ahead. It may be cheaper in that time, too. Right now it's really probably not all that much worth it to be honest.

It was "okay" as a game. But when you compare it to something like Dragon Age then it starts to feel really mediocre. I dunno, that's just my personal thoughts on it.

It really is something you'll have to decide for yourself. Some people are loving it, others are hating it, and plenty are indifferent.

Personally, I really don't like it and I sorely regret buying it.

However, once again, you really can't rely on other people's opinions to buy or not buy. Just get as much info as you can on the game, see how well it seems to fit with what you want and if the list of requirements you have ends up fairly well filled by what you find out, then give it a go.

Ultimately, it's not that bad even if it turns out to be a waste of money. It's not that much cash to lose. Just don't buy a new pc for it unless you end up loving it!

Yes, it is worth buying.

Does it live up to all the hype? Not quite. Even so, there are only a handful of games that can compete with Skyrim, and many people think that desptie its flaws it is still head and shoulders above anything else avaliable at the minute.

I got it on the PC for £25, that was pretty much standard UK price for PC. Thats about $35/$40 I think, so whoever bought it for $70 got royally screwed. Even on consoles it was only £35, $55 ish I think.

We tend to get screwed here in Canada... Despite the fact our dollar has been on par with the American for 5 years now, everything costs 10-50% more.

As other said.

It is worth buying. It isn't as good as it was hyped up to be, but honestly: Who believed it would be?

I've had about 200 houres into the game. I can push another 50. I won't do that, however, untill the CK is out and some of the bigger problems will be adressed.

If it is tough to decide, I'd wait for a month. Then some of the mods would have fixed the worse of the game, and it can be played without any problems.

I'll say this: I honestly didn't give a damn about Oblivion. It wasn't appealing to me with it's leveling system. Even with the mod I had to make me run around as a Xenomorph from the Alien movies, it still was missing something for me.

With all the mods out there for Skyrim already, What the game is missing me for me, has become even better. I think it's worth buying, but I'd hate to shell out so much for it to not be able to enjoy it to my liking... so might I suggest finding someone who has it and playing it first? You can do pretty much whatever you want, no doubt about that. But I've noticed more people liked Oblivion better than Skyrim (not sure why) and yet there are still plenty of people who like Skyrim the best so far.

Question is, what type of games do you like? Are you playing games simply because they're pretty? Or do you actually like story line? What about Gore and shooters? While Skyrim has a lot of everything, it's not one thing or the other.

If you're the type to run around in games like Halo or Call of Duty, you better steer clear of Skyrim. There's more to this game than just killing everything that moves.

Some games like Dragon Age or the Witcher are more story driven but they are also linear. Skyrim allows you to ignore the main quest if you choose to.

If you like TES games (fantasy setting, freedom to explore the world) and don't like some aspects of Oblivion (levelling system, speech wheel to name but a few) then you will probably love Skyrim.

If you are the type of player who likes exploring a big world and enjoys dungeon crawling you will get countless hours out of the game.

Thanks for that guys ! :)

@Brittainy: Yeah, I know it's my decision, but I just wanted some info on the way of playing and if it was really worth it.

Out all that I'm probably gonna buy it in Ferbruary, cuz' I'm broke right now :)

Thanks again
