BarefootWarrior
It really depends on you, I have some disappointments with this game to be sure, but, storyline aside, I can get totally lost in this game just running around and being killed by falling mammoths and such. Any game that I can get lost in is worth it to me, and I don't regret buying Skyrim at all, I'm having fun just exploring the world. But I am not a hard core player and this could make a difference on what some folks really want out of a game. Anyway, to each their own, I am having a great time.
tem1980
I'd have to recommend it. Personally, I knew the hype was going to exceed the game, that said, I think its mile above vanilla Oblivion, modded its very close. The potential for Skyrim is pretty much astronomical once the CK is released. That said, I've run almost 300 hours, and I still find things that I havent seen before, still have quests I havent done. The big issue, if it really is one, is that bethesda spent their time developing things equally. The main quest is a bit bland in its finally and execution. But there are many excellent side quests, exploring caveats, and intricate world details that Oblivion did not have, and seemed to focus entirely on the guilds, even more so than the main quest. Aside from those the dungeons are a massive step forward from Oblivion, each one feels different and usually is different, often having pretty awesome scenes to look at. While mechanics are improved slightly, there is still often a repetitive feel for quests, but I really cant think of any game that doesnt have that feel after awhile. Personally, I think bethesda did pretty well with a team of 100 or 200 or whatever the number was, things are a bit unpolished, and that is creditable as a fault with the game, and others will say that modders will fix problems faster than bethesda, and more accurately. This is true, but we have exponentially greater feedback and number of modders working on the problems than does bethesda. So rants aside, this game is pretty damn good. I know some will say other games are better, and if they mean more polished than they may be right. But in terms of shear replayability and hours playable and potential, I don't know any games other than other bethesda titles that can even compare. Rennn
It's certainly worth buying if you have a pc that can run it on at least medium settings smoothly. On the consoles, yeah, still worth buying, but less so. It's much better than Oblivion, if that has an impact (and this is coming from a person who must've played Oblivion for 300+ hours without mods and loved every minute of it). The game has more tactical options than any other one I've ever seen. While I'll agree that Dragon Age is an amazing rpg, Skyrim beats it in everything except characters (because, let's face it, Morrigan is the best character in forever :) ). With mods, Skyrim will probably even be worth playing at least ten years from now. I'm also hoping for a mod that adds some kind of Bioware-esque character development for spouses.
