natelovesyou
http://media.pcgamer.com/files/2011/12/Skyrim-Online-thumb-610x278.jpghttp://www.pcgamer.com/2011/12/16/skyrim-online-adds-multiplayer-not-quite-ready-for-primetime I just came across the PCGamer article while browsing the web, and came on here to see if there was a topic about it in the General Skyrim Discussion about this very, very WIP mod - but didn't find anything. This is the Skyrim Nexus page: http://www.skyrimnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3592 I know that the mod has its own discussion in another section, but I considered the fact that I never check there and would like to have a more broad user discussion since relative few check other sections like mod talk. I think such a "big deal" deserves that, yeah? So what do you guys and gals think? Has anyone given it a try? I think it's exciting! Although, apparently this mod is more MMO than co-op (and there's an important difference), not really my style... but even if this doesn't end up being a viable co-op mod if/when it's done, it's amazing that the modder has gotten this far without the Creation Kit - and, it opens the doors for bigger, and perhaps better things. :] I for one am crossing my fingers on the future chance of being able to play co-op with my little brother! And shoot friends in the knee with an arrow, of course! ;) Edited December 17, 2011 by natelovesyou

natelovesyou
I know what you mean. I'm excited about the potential, not the mod myself. But realize that this is a mod, and mods are optional. I don't know how such a thing will flesh out when mods are taken into account, but just think about how cool it could be for people to play the game with a friend in a LAN. It's what many people have been clamoring for, even if many are repulsed at the idea of it. Again, any multiplayer mod is just a mod... It's not like Bethesda is going to make Skyrim an online game and make us play it that way. Todd Howard himself said that he likes single player games more. FireBug3
I dont get what is a "big deal" about it, this guy has released realy basic stuff, only reason why other people dont release something alike is because it is useless, you can not create a enjoyable mp mod without CK, script dragon can only spawn and change objects, it can not change scripts, this means that you cant create any kind of gameplay, except you write your own scripts for every little action in skyrim, that would take about a year to do (and you got to be batshit insane to do that). bassist02324
^^^ Someone has no idea what they are talking about... The CK will be virtually useless as far as making the online work... Online has to be almost completely coded by hand. Only thing it will do is allow quests to be re-scripted to allow party questing. The mod maker has already mentioned that the SKSE is a big part of the mod, and it has nothing to do with the CK... He needs the extra functions (SKSE is a Script enhancer). 75% of the work is hardcoding. 25% is scripting quests so they will cooperate with multiple players. The CK has so little to do with the making of an online mod, mentioning it basically proves you know nothing about programming/reverse engineering a program to do something it was not meant to do. And maybe, just maybe, we NEED someone that is "batshit crazy" to jump on the boat and get it sailing. - bassist
Artistdude05
Personally I find it interesting that someone in such a short amount of time of a games release is able to do something that previously was near impossible on games that have been out for years. I remember there was some sort of multiplayer program for Oblivion a while ago, but that didn't work out well. If someone can achieve something like that so soon, imagine what else modders will be able to do. As far as the multiplayer thing goes though. Even if they do manage to get a fully functional multiplayer mod going I doubt I'd use it unless some friends ask me. I kind of like playing single player games where I'm a special snowflake. Although dinking around and FUS RO DAHing friends off of cliffs would be immensely fun.
ginnyfizz
No. Absolutely not. Keep multiplayer out of TES. PLEASE.
Zachcuden
No. Absolutely not. Keep multiplayer out of TES. PLEASE.How about instead of complaining about it you just ignore it? Even if it does come, it's optional. I personally would like to play co-op, not mmo.
raigntk
i think if they do a multiplayer it should be like how they did it in fable 3. thats just my opinion though.
