rocketlad Posted December 18, 2011 Share Posted December 18, 2011 Hey, so I've got this problem with Esmer. For some reason, he won't TALK! I haven't heard his voice since I first met him! All I've seen is his dialog (I was forced to enable captions so I could actually "hear" what he was saying)I'm at High Hrothgar and I'm sitting down for the war-peace meeting between Tullius and the other guy (his name slips my mind!). After I sit down and go through the whole "Riften for Markarth" or whatever dialog, everyone faces towards the front in the direction of Esmer and then NOTHING. Nothing happens, and no matter how long I wait, it just doesn't do anything. I'm assuming Esmer is supposed to be talking then but he doesn't!? I think it could possibly a model (the character's actual model file. His lips don't ever move. Ever.) issue? Or maybe some kind of audio issue for just his character? I haven't had any audio issues with anything/anyone so I doubt that's it though. If anyone knows how to fix this or has any suggestions, I'd be seriously relieved and happy.But if not, I'll just restart from the beginning I guess. *Sigh* P.S. I've been stuck on this thing for what seems like forever. (Hahah, 5 days, mind you!)P.P.S. I've reloaded previous save states multiple times and then get to this part and it's all the same. dark47 Posted December 18, 2011 Share Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) I had a similar problem with Esbern in the Ratway in Riften. He won't open his door or talk to me. I found a solution in the forum here somewhere. (Seems others had the same problem). The door open thing worked on a voice-trigger and his voice was "stuck". He, he. So I was told to go into the Data folder and unpack the file "Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa". That did the trick for me. Might be the same type of proplem you're having with Esmer. Wooxtile Posted December 29, 2011 Share Posted December 29, 2011 http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Esbern hi i'm a newcomer to the forum...i tied everything u told to and nothing worked... when esbern gets out of riften he simply keeps "patroling" a nearby windmill... knocking him, talkingto him or even tryingto make he follow u (conversation or making he attackand chase u) doesn't work andif i fast travel or walk too far he disappears and i'm unable to complete the quest... i'm going to try opening the console but nothing worked... hope u can help me...
