In that case you are clearly a roman emperor.

He is left wing and has "Marx" in his name. I am not sure why I am surprised you think that is enough evidence to make crazy claims.

Read the communist manifesto. The criticisms of capitalism Marx had are without question valid. If you are going to say you're a Marxist in the sense that you agree with Marx's criticisms of capitalism that is perfectly fine. But then again I wouldn't expect you to actually read the thing, listening to everyone say that Marx was a evil man who hated freedom is probably easier for you.

Now can you actually focus on the debate instead of attacking someone for their name without focusing on their argument? Probably not.

Since when are public-sector jobs "fake jobs"?

When the number of public sector jobs are grossly inflated and spurious posts created just so that a Labour/Socialist government create a class of ready made client voters. Gormless Gordon Brown created 71,000 public sector jobs.

As for marharth and his

WOW. How breathtakingly rude. This is what I mean when I refer to the tendencies of many on the left to try and portray those who have conservative views as ignorant bigots who have never read a book that is contrary to their own opinions (or even as ignorant Neanderthals who can't read at all....) Actually I have read both the Communist Manifesto and Das Kapital and would not be surprised if Aurelius has done the same.

*chuckles* When I went to school Marx, Engels and Proudhomme were required reading...yes even in the bastions of conservatism like Eton we studied Socialism. :whistling:

I didn't say anything about conservatives not reading it did I? No I didn't. I was replying directly to Aurielius for a reason. Considering I am typing to you on a forum, I can easily conclude you can read.

If you think Marx is evil, or that he held views to seriously restrict freedom you are incorrect. I don't see how you could hold those views if you read the communist manifesto. Marxism is not the same as Stalinism.

Marxist Bastard's name could mean a number of things, put together with the word Bastard it could mean he is making a sarcastic remark to make a statement AGAINST Marxism. Having Marxism in his name makes him a communist as much as having the word Marxism in your post makes you a communist. Even if he was a communist why the f*** does that matter? That does not contribute to the topic and if you are not putting up a counter argument there is no reason to mention it.

I also find it funny you are going to say that people on the left assume people on the right "can't read" or something of the sort, when you are attacking someone on the left and labeling him as a communist just based on his name.

By the way I agree that public sector jobs are in a way fake jobs. Private sector jobs are far better in my opinion because they do not require tax funding.

How very true, jim_uk.

@Marharth, I have actively campaigned for the Conservative Party in General Elections. It was a frequent tactic of local Labour Party pseudo-intellectuals to try and cause arguments in situations where they could conceivably get us into trouble - my area is regarded by the Socialists as their feudal fiefdom. When we steadfastly refused to verbally brawl with them the refrain was "Do you lack the intellectual capacity or are you just too f****** thick?" That attitude is all too commonplace. Therefore, you saying "I wouldn't expect you to actually read the thing...." smacks of that kind of attitude, which seems a bit off colour.

I wasn't replying to you though, I have no idea why you assumed that was directed at every conservative.
