thekid345
No offense to 'fans' of George W. Bush, but i find this very strange....http://news.aol.com/story/_a/americans-ran...S00010000000001 Georgie was ranked the #10 best president in U.s history. WTF? ninja_lord666
What I find strange is that the people consider Clinton to be better than Jefferson. Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence. How can Clinton be better then the Declaration of Independence!? I also find it strange that Lincoln is number one. He didn't actually free anyone, you know. He didn't have the power to. He controlled four slave states, only four. He did not free them; instead, he said he was freeing the slaves in the Confederate states, which were beyond his jurisdiction. He didn't do squat about the slaves. Even when the north one, the slaves weren't freed. They were freed a couple years later by Congress after Lincoln died. Lincoln didn't free the slaves; Congress freed the slaves. If you think about it, Bush is pretty good when compared to the presidents who did nothing and were soon forgotten thereafter, presidents like William H. Harrison or James Buchanan or Chester A. Arthur. Do you know who they are? I don't know who they are. Why would the people know who they are; why would the people care. Actually, if you look past Bush's universal hatred, he's done a lot of great things. He's done more than Gore or Kerry could have ever hoped to accomplish; he's a better president than Gore or Kerry could have ever hoped to be. I'm sure in about 40-50 years, people will look back in hindsight and praise Bush. Even Lincoln, Reagen, and Kennedy were widely criticised and hated in their time. In fact, they were hated so much they were shot for it. Bush hasn't been shot.
thekid345
Well i don't have a desire to get into a debate with you,but I do aggree that the credit that some, excuse me not some MOST, presidents get is not deserved. Like you said Lincoln had just 4 slave states. And when you think about it, the past 4 presidents have probally done squat for our country. poopgoblin
How exactly do people rate Presidents? Is it based off of what they did (and if so, is it good or bad) the hype, the time of presidency? I don't think you can say there is an overall best President, some excelled in some areas and failed in others. There are too many criteria and too many differing opinions.
