MegMcMuffin
I've been having a problem with Oblivion recently where the cursor is functional not only in game, but on the desktop as well. I'll click on something to select it in my inventory, or be fighting something and have Oblivion minimize, only to see that I've selected one of my desktop icons to open, or move it across the desktop. Usually Oblivion crashes after it minimizes, but that was something that was happening before this started with the cursor. As you can imagine, this makes it seriously irritating to try to do anything in the game and not be paranoid about it minimizing and crashing. I'm saving every time I kill something, and am restarting my computer often. I find that it happens less often after I have just rebooted, but still does happen occasionally. It tends to start happening again after maybe an hour or so of gameplay. If anyone has any sort of ideas on what this could be caused by, I would sooo appreciate it. I stopped playing Oblivion for a while, and just started again 2 weeks ago and don't want to stop playing again because of a bug.
WoogieMonster
I actually did a big 'report' on this some while back. Shut off Xfire (or GameFace or whatever you're using), don't just log out, completely close the program, that will solve your problem.
MegMcMuffin
That doesn't seem to help. I use Xfire, and I was pretty convinced that was the problem too. I'm debating uninstalling it completely, though because just exiting completely (from the taskbar, not just closing the window) doesn't make it stop. Abramul
Use the task manager to check whether any processes are left over.
bben46
Are you running in windowed rather than full screen mode? If so, anything that another program does in the background can cause Oblivion to minimize - just as if you hit alt-Tab. Running in full screen is supposed to disable the Alt-Tab and keep Oblivion running in the foreground.
MegMcMuffin
There doesn't seem to be an option for maximize and mimimize. I'm pretty certain that Oblivion isn't even capable of running windowed. And there are no stray Xfire process running, nor are there any others that aren't supposed to be there.
