  1. 1. Female armors are denigrating.

    • Yes they are offensive. (Male perspective)
    • No they are just a style choice.(Male perspective)
    • It's just another immersion choice. (Male perspective)

I wouldn't call the female armours in question 'denigrating' - I find 'implausible', 'impractical', 'pandering to tired old clichés' and 'horribly unimaginative' to be more suitable expressions.

I can get onboard that horse.

Rarely have I seen more unmitigated drivel than I have seen in this thread.

People play video games to escape from their daily, mundane lives and to gain some entertainment and enjoyment. If that includes a scantily clad member of the opposite sex – well so what – that’s part of fantasy. If you deny that, then I really feel sorry for you.

If people who play video games have some underlying social, moral or psychological issue, then I guess they are no different than anyone else playing the game. In other words, pretty normal folk seeking a few hours of escapism.

People get banned because they think they have the right and the intellect to identify what is correct and incorrect in the world. Sadly, they are usually not intellectuals, but just another person with a computer, an internet connection and an opinion and typically one they can’t keep to themselves or express in a polite manner.

Good grief.

All of fifteen posts and less than one month on Nexus.....and yet an arbiter of other peoples subjective views.

A fair bit of it intentional... Or did you miss my tie-in with 300 awhile back? Hell, you can't even watch a B action movie from the 80's without tripping over some of this stuff: Barbarians, Beastmaster, and on the point of being intentional... Deathstalker. It was cliche` even then. The only difference was that people didn't get their panties in such a bunch over what other people did for entertainment back then.

What was your point?

I thought the point was it's not denigrating, but more like "expected'.. /shrug. Just because it's cliche doesn't mean I can't like it.

I used to have high expectations like you, but then I took an arrow in the knee.

@aurelius, and yet so remarkably astute. No wonder, posts from that IP address have been around since 2010. (banned by request) :armscrossed:

Well we actually don't really know. There has only been one woman found in the Peat Bogs and she from about 3 to 400 years earlier and was completely nude and apparently she was not under duress when she died.

The men we have found wearing linen and leather. There has been one man wearing linen and leather that was from the approximate time.

Other than that we have no written history and most of those paintings you mention were from later and were undoubtedly influenced by the social mores in force and enforced during that later period.

Harbringe, if I were you I'd put that psychology degree back in the cracker jack box.

There were Roman records that give some indication of the natives attire, the climate is also thought to have been warmer back then too so they may not have needed much more. The lack of armour was because her army were largely made up of peasants who couldn't afford it, it was what ultimately led to their defeat. I'm not sure we can draw many conclusions from nude bog woman, she may have had her clothing taken by someone after her death.

I won't comment on psychology, my rant to could take several pages.

@ Myr

If you are so much in accord with his view and as you have so drolly put it's "a numpty thread" why bother to post sixteen times? I have seen you bypass threads of no interest to you in the past. at the moment you have authored 10% of the posts. A terse rebuttal only needs one maybe two posts. The fact that this thread has stuck some chord has amused me as well since I only really framed it to get the distaff viewpoint, if I could have made the poll female exclusive I would have.

You're the one that decided that you knew what I meant by "numpty", I would define that slang word as "goofy". Yes I think it's a bit silly to complain about the styles of armors. I like having as many choices as possible even if I have to wade through a ton of butt-hanging out armor that my characters would never wear, to get to those few she might wear once.

When I said "astute" I meant you for picking out that person spoke like he or she knew us.

In Scotland the phrase is 'Numpty Noggin' I just gave you credit for being well traveled ( I only knew of it because my wife is a Scot), as for the other... my faux pas it seems.. :whistling:

To some males, a scantily-clad attractive female is a thing of beauty and possibly regarded as "art"; other males may regard said female as "scandalous" and "slutty".

One man's art is another man's porn.

The reverse is true for females who regard males.

Who is right?

I tried to believe that this thread has gone on for as long as it has...but then I took an arrow in the knee. :whistling:

So good of you to point that out. That's exactly my problem.

One man's tramp is another woman's pissed off feminist.
