xecco77
Hi, I managed to get my ASUS Strix Nvidia 980 cards working pretty well in SLI mode by setting (with Nvidia Profile Inspector) SLI compatibility bits (DX10+DX11) to 0x080020F5. Feel free to test if that works also to others. -Xecco
Sangeki
Any flags that scale introduce severe flickering (among other issues), especially in combination with TAA.SLI isn't going to happen unless Bethesda decides that making the renderer multi-gpu friendly is something that they should maybe do. SMB92
And that will never happen. SLi is basically just a marketing myth these days...

Just keep telling your self that. It 40% improvement on compatible games last time I check. For Skyrim if it incompatible, you can still use one card for Graphics, one for Physic, with CPU doing the rest. What wrong with that? archtrtd1
I use SLI for the original Skyrim and for Fallout 4 (and will try in Skyrim SE). In my original Skyrim I am able to keep a pretty constant 60 fps (with occasional drops into the high 40s) with Immersive Patrols, OBIS, RND, Wet and Cold, AFT, SFO, Enhanced Landscapes (with grass at max), Expanded Towns and Cities, Skyrim Immersive Creatures, Deadly Dragons, SMIM, several high resolution texture mods, several new locations/homes, and high end ENBs (K ENB, Grim and Somber series, etc) all at 1440p. If I turn SLI off, I lose 20 - 30 fps and have horrible stuttering. So yeah, SLI does matter and does make a huge difference depending on the game! Both XFire and SLi produce problems for me, virtually the same, whether I change AFR or not. @PeterMartyr- if you find the use for 2 cards, good for you, for the most part it is not worth buying that second card, might as well invest in the full package. Crazies recommending to buy 2x 1070s living over 1x 980ti or 1080, even at the the golden price point actually not doing themself any favors unless they stick only to apps that are supporting or happen to work. All otherwise just rich boys bragging points
archtrtd1
The only problem I have is taking screenshots with ENB - the effects don't show properly. I have to use FRAPS to take screenshots with certain ENBs (otherwise they look terrible). This even applies to Fallout 4. Unfortunately FRAPS seems to be incompatible with F4Se and I have to deactivate it in order to run FRAPS/take screenshots. jones177
Hi I built my latest gaming computer for this game. It uses a 4k monitor & has 2 GTX 980 tis in SLI. The computer that I built just before Skyrim came out in 2011 is still running (i7 2600k). Even with a GTX 1080 it could only achieve 30fps at 4k with my ENB setup(Vivid Weathers ENB). I use a 3440 X 1440 monitor with that computer & Skyrim runs a constant 60fps. A single 980 ti averaged 46fps at that resolution but could do a constant 60 at 2560 X 1440. For 4k or with 144+hz 1440 monitor SLI is necessary. Also at 1440 & above there is really no difference in performance between my old i7 2600k & my new i7 6700k. If I would have bought a SLI motherboard instead a Crossfire motherboard back in 2011 I would not have had to build a new computer. Later
SMB92
But then i don't understand, I can't tell any discernable difference at 4k than 1440p with the TAA but I do understand wanting 4k in OG Skyrim with ENB due to lack of TAA, but only that. But I am biased of opinion because mine is that I see no reason for above 60fps or 4k for general gaming, some games I am running 4k simply because my single card will do it so why not but not going out of my way for it. To me it's all marketing ploy to buy more gfx and over the top monitors. All good for the rich who don't need to care, but not really anything to write home about. One can build a great gaming rig for under 3000 now.
