What type of graphics card are you using?

i only have a lame nvidia gforce g210m, but i can run oblivion on high somehow...

my friends got a about 1300€ (about 1800-2000$) laptop and with a pretty good graphics card..he is able to play crysis on high...wanna have that one..

im trying to convince my mom for a new pc, so anyone can tell me some good graphics cards?

As I said before Either NVidia Or Gigabyte GTX285.

I wouldn't recommend getting an GTX 285. If you can afford a graphics card in that price range get an ATI HD5870 instead. Better performance, and DirectX 11 support. Then there's Eyefinity too, but like Nvidia's PhysX, this is nothing I care about.

PhysX is better, 285 has DX11 support and it has NVidia CUDA & NVidia 3D

I remember reading something about ATI using the 3D gaming stuff too, which would work basically just like Nvidia's version.

And no, GTX285 does not take advantage of any of the new features in DirectX 11. About Cuda, I'm not completely sure how it actually works but from what I understand it doesn't really have any benefit it games, which is what I can imagine MonsterHunterMaster would use the computer for.

And of course, if you think it's worth it to get an outdated card just for PhysX, that's up to the person buying it. ;)

Well, I already had one. (Two actaully. I love Crossfire!)

But I cooked them :(

And I assure you, The ones I had Did support DX11.

Maybe coz they were semi custom?

8600GTM - Oblivion runs quite smoothly.

 

BTW- Nvidia PhysX is awesome (even without a dedicated card). :)

@MHM The GTX285 has only DX10, and will not support full effects of games in the future.

Just wait till the nvidia 300gt comes out, its going to smoke those radeons, usually because they will come with larger bus speeds around 896 (448 x 2) like the 295's but with a 1ghz cpu in them.
