Iron Kingdoms Gunwerks

 

 

People talk about guns (when they talk about guns at all) with trepidation, wringing their hands that these powerful weapons. But lo there is more than just the standard pistol, musket and other such weapons.

 

 

The Pepperbox

"This pistol is carved from a hefty block of steel which four narrow barrels are bored. The barrels rotate using a clockwork mechanism such that the pistol is ready to fire again after the first shot, allowing skilled warriors to fire a quick volley. However it is not without design flaws, it is heavy, unwieldy and the clockwork mechanism has to be disengaged after firing and the re-engaged before firing." It requires each chamber to be loaded one at a time and thus increases load times.

 

 

The Quadiron

A hefty beast of a pistol that discharges all four barrels at once rather than one at a time like the Pepperbox. It loads faster due to only needing one chamber filled, but requires some finesse.

 

Shield Gun

A hefty device made of steel with an integrated pistol in the handle, it fires one shot and it's hefty payload requires decent strength or it will stagger it' user.

 

 

 

 

 

Hold Out Pistol

Basically a derringer, but with a swivel barrel allowing for two shots.

 

 

Now what about bullets? Now here's the interesting thing about Iron Kingdom bullets, powder is magical in nature, being made of a mixture of alchemical black and red powders that are kept separate in a special silk packet. Once the separation is breached the chemicals mix and explode. The idea is that to create the powders we would need Tytanis's silks from his mod, soul gems from the enchanter and base charcoals. Once made the guns would fire a lead pellet by using the explosion caused by the mixture of powders.

 

The idea here is that to use a gun you would have to plan your strategy ahead of time, since it would be a difficult reload and firing it would stagger you without sufficient skill. Similar ideas could be used with a musket of some sort, if you like having a long gun, but the staggering would still apply, but it would be great for say, sniping someone far off, since bows aren't the best for that.

 

 

More so than this we can weave magic through guns, why not allow the gun mage?

A character who can cast spells through their guns? It's a thought. I have no skill at modding of course, but it's fun for idle thought, possibly for even using to engine to make an iron kingdoms mod.

A creepy little Grymkin (an evil faery) that steals the eyes of it's victims leaving them blind unless the can capture and bargain for them back. Returned eyes often have mysterious powers. The Glimmer imp is invisible save in the mirror it accompanies, once spotted it paralyses it's victim . . . then scoops out their eyeballs with a sharpened rusty spoon and places them in it's own skull.
