Thank you so much for this!

Ā

After I installed Bethesda's high res pack, I had many missing textures and constant CTDs. I tried everything but couldn't get it to work. Then I followed your advice and now it runs perfectly with all graphics settings at maximum.

Ā

Thanks!

First, thank you very much for providing this information. Now Skyrim runs on my system without a hitch.

Ā

Funny, as soon as I saw the topic "32 bit large memory access", I knew exactly what I had to do. Felt like slapping myself on the side of the head for not thinking to do this sooner. I do this stuff every day and I should have figured it out on my own. We run a 32 bit mapping application that is LAA and I had to do this to about 30 workstations shortly after we installed the software about 7 or 8 months ago. I have the "Important pior to installation" note from our vendor sitting on my desk at work.

Ā

Thanks again for providing this info, something that Bethesda should have put into their install docs.

isnt it easier to just flag the EXE as LAA

Ā

there are tools for that, it solved all my issues

Ā

just make a backup for your EXE file before you reflag it

Ā

cant understand why moast game devs dont have LAA active per default since it is the moast common source of crashes nowdays it seems (for me atleast)

I've been having CTDs and various Graphical problems for a while now. I haven't been able to pinpoint the source of these problems however and I thought I'd try this. I ran command prompt in Administrative mode and did as was written. I tried both "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072" & "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 /store C:\Boot\BCD" . Unfortunately, I'm getting this error:

Ā

"An error occurred while attempting to reference the specified entry. The system cannot find the file specified."

Ā

Why is this happening? Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

I've just joined this forum solely so I can say thank you for this fix. I've been having the same problem - constant CTD with no error messages. I found I could either unselect the hi-res texture data files and this would play ok for a few hours before starting to get occasional blank textures, or I could have the hi-res textures on and set all the graphic options to LOW (kind of defeating the objective there). This was running a GTX 570 so I was expecting it to cope no problem. Since following your instructions for Win7 I've been playing for several hours without a single crash or missing texture - everything happily running at ultra. Given how many threads I've read which have totally failed to come up with a solution to this issue I can't quite believe the fix is so easy to implement.

Ā

Many many thanks.

Thank you sooo much. works like a charm!

i was so desperate after trying everything else on the net.

like you, i had those random crashes every few minutes, especially with high res texture packs

but now i can play skyrim with ultra settings and lots of graphical enhancements

without crashes. i love you!

I have the same issue too. I sometimes CTD and if I download a texture mod that is Hi-rez for the face or a mod that require a lot from my ram, I see I crash more. I also have sometime have missing texture issue. But I have a few question before I try this. I never done anything in the CMD before. I do not want to mess up and then my computer does not work. So my questions are. Is it safe for my computer to change the user VA? First I have a game sims 3 that also has CTD. And sims wiki said to

"Type the following and hit enter:

If you have 3072 MB of RAM installed: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 2560

If you have 4096 MB of RAM installed: bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072 "

Which of this is right for me?

My computer is:

Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit

Service Pack 1

IntelĀ® Core2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

Memory: 8192MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 3326MB RAM

Page File: 1285MB used, 5365MB available

ATI Radeon HD 4800

Installed memory (RAM) 8.00 GB (3.25 GB usable)

I run me game on high settings (with a few settings tweak down)
