First time modding, confusion

It's been a very long time since I've booted up Nexus Mod Manager, but I believe it will show like a green check mark next to the mod when it is activated. After you click the "Download with Manager" button and NMM does its thing, you need to activate the mods. Just double click each mod one at a time and let them activate. Once everything is all good, you should be able to just jump into the game. I'm not really sure load order sorting tools work for the Special Edition, so I'll just assume after activation you can just hit play and have fun. If something goes wrong, let me know I guess.

P.S. It may help to look up some videos on how to mod Skyrim. Look up the beginners guide to modding Skyrim by Gopher. Now that was for the original Skyrim and a lot of it may not be very relevant anymore, but the important part is to let him show you how the tools work (most importantly NMM). Plus, getting caught up on the modding lingo may be helpful as well. Either way, good luck with everything.

It's like a series of videos. It's a really great series of tutorials, it helped me a lot when I was a beginner. I probably should have just linked it for you earlier, so I'll do that now I guess. Just to make sure you get the right one I suppose.

Hi HolySpartan,

You've been offered some good advice so far.

Probably the best thing you can do to check you're doing it right is to install a mod that will have an obvious and immediate change. I'd recommend installing Alternate Start - Live Another Life. If you've installed it correctly you will be taken straight to the character creation screen after clicking new game on the Skyrim main menu

Other mods such as the Unofficial Patch change or fix the game in often quite subtle ways and in that respect can be more difficult to tell if it's installed properly (no disrespect to the Unofficial Patch - its the most essential mod in anyone's mod list)

Hope this helps.
