CupFullOfBeetlejuice
I've never actually been on the forums before, so forgive me if this is in the wrong place or sounds stupid. I haven't booted the game in a long time, and when I was trying to start it up recently it's been crashing during any attempt to either start a new file or continue a previous one. I'm figuring it's a mod, but as far as I recall everything worked fine before so I can't really think of anything specific to try to correct. Any help or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated, thanks.
iXenite
Posting a load order may be helpful to anyone that is interested in trying to figure everything out. Also, as long as New Vegas is the game you need troubleshooting advice for - you're in the right place. My personal advice would be to consider deleting all of your mods and starting over with a fresh install of the game. If it's been a while, it's probably better to just start fresh anyway. Just my advice.
CupFullOfBeetlejuice
i might try just uninstalling all the mods and reinstalling the game like you said, that would probably be a good first try
iXenite
It would probably be the least frustrating solution. I've found with troubleshooting, a full re-install is usually the easiest way to go about "fixing" the issue. Unless you've poured hours upon hours into a save and feel like attempting to save it, then it's usually best to try again. Either way, have fun playing New Vegas. :)
TrashBandit
I've recently found the way to fix this. I just tried it and it works for me. http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/34778/?
CupFullOfBeetlejuice
so fresh install, vanilla game boots, and it still crashes. back to square one now.
CupFullOfBeetlejuice
my GPU is NVIDIA so I'm guessing that fix in the link might work, but if it limits mod capabilities that's not really a viable option either.
dubiousintent
If you have either the "Windows10 Anniversary Update" or recent (since July) video drivers installed, then there is a problem caused by changes MS introduced to the "Windows Device Driver Kit (WDDK)". The "New Vegas Anti-Crash" (NVAC) mod as of v7.5.0.0 (released 25 Oct 2016) has been reported to fix the conflict. That mod linked above works by faking the game into believing you have an older video card. Might work, but not recommended over NVAC. Otherwise, suggest you look at this entry in the "Fallout NV Mod Conflict troubleshooting" guide. -Dubious- Edited November 8, 2016 by dubiousintent
