Kethruch
Tom Bombadil gets a short shift in just about anything made with the LotR in mind. After saving the hobbits from Old Man Willow, the hobbits learn of Goldberry and Tom and how they seem to not care about the things that go on outside his realms (I wonder if he could have told Treebeard where the Entwives went, though.). He then rescues the hobbits from the barrow wights, where the hobbits are trapped again, then distributes the ancient weapons to the hobbits that are used by them for most of the rest of the books. The old LotR (the Bakshi version) ignores him. The BBC version on tape ignores him. The Jackson films ignore him. He must not be one of the favorites, huh? Not an integral part of the major plot? As far as could it be done? They made Gollum, didn't they? I don't hink he's one of the Maya - even Gandalf seems to not really be sure what he is. TheDeadTree
Well, he very well may be the Witch-king of Angmar!
MDRud216
Slightly off topic but they left out a lot of things to save time like he said. But I hear the scoring of the Shire and the death of Saruman will be included in the extended version DVD of The Return of the King. But I think they left it out in the movie edition becaus it was anti-climactic and ruined the moment when the ring was destroyed, but it was wierd because Frodo or Sam (can't remember which) saw what looked like the scoring of the Shire in the mirrior of Galadriel. So yah, they left out a lot of things :(
wesaynothin
Well, the scouring of the Shire was a bit anti-climactic. When I got to it, I personally just though "What... more? Didn't they already save the frickinn world?" But it was a good part anyways. And Tom Bombadil could not have been anti-climactic, he was in the middle of the book.... Iluventi
Well, he very well may be the Witch-king of Angmar! Whoever wrote that must have been some full crackjunkie or something....I reckon that has got to be the most stupid thing someone has ever thought of :P ^_^ I would have pointed to Tom Bombadil being a incarnation of the creator of all Eru/Iluvatar.. TheDeadTree
Well, while narcotics were probably involved in the theory behind the Witch-king and Tom being one in the same, the rest of that website is good for a quick laugh. My favorite would be: This.
drowst
The scouring of this shire will not be in the extended version, nothing was filmed about it. This came out when it came to light that there was nothing about Sauraman in the Return of the King. Jackson said he had only filmed a brief part basically saying he wasn't a threat anymore. That is the part that will be added back in for the DVD. Jackson just felt that some things weren't important to the story the way he was telling it. Stormscape
The problem is, I find this theory dangerously plausible.

They didn't film anything about it, but weren't the extra scenes for the other two filmed later (so they could say they weren't "deleted scenes", that they were brand new)??? MEaning that there is a chance for the scenes to be in the dvd.....
