stebbinsd
Oblivion's leveling system is broken as hell. That fact commands almost universal asset. If you haven't heard about it yet, take a look at 21:15 - 58:59 of this video, which goes into astronomical levels of detail about the game as a whole (this section is dedicated to leveling): I've tried downloading some mods in the past. The worst was this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/1963/? I call it the worst for two reasons: One, it didn't work like it was supposed to. I would level up and I would get the message for leveling up (e.g. "You realize that all your life you have been coasting along as if you were in a dream. Suddenly, facing the trials of the last few days, you have come alive"). But I don't get the option to upgrade my attributes. This would be fine if my attributes got upgraded automatically, but they don't. I needed to use console commands to upgrade my attributes. So all this mod did was remove the attribute increases for my levels while still keeping the leveling system otherwise the same. So it was even WORSE than vanilla! The second reason I hate this mod is because it didn't go away when I uninstalled it. Even a modless vanilla playthrough still had the same problems as above. I can only imagine I must have installed it wrong, which may be my fault, but I've got such a bad taste in my mouth from that mod that I'm still not going anywhere near it again. Does anyone know of a mod I can install to fix the leveling problem, that's easy to use, and that doesn't require a mod manager or intricate knowledge of which files go in which folder? Since Nexus Mod Manager is currently down due to strain, I can't use a mod manager; I have to do it manually.

mhahn123
Try Zek's Oblivion Reforged. It's pretty new so haven't tested it myself yet. I found it via BOSS Masterlist submission and there are some good comments.
Grogrokl
I've always thought that Realistic Leveling is the best one but lately I've switched over to Oblivion XP. If you tweak Oblivion XP radically it has the potential to become the best one IMO. But if you use its default settings it is far from the best. If you want to start playing as fast as possible or if you lack the imagination and knowledge to tweak Oblivion XP into the great mod it has the potential to be I recommend Realistic Leveling... derosset
hey, i wonder if any of you came across a mod which allows player`s skills to advance just the way they do in skyrim ? so that your the skill progression is not directly affected just by the number of hits/casts but by the damage inflicted/healed etc?
