Low Resolution save-crashing

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody, I've seen several threads relating to this issue on this (Nexus) and other (i.e. Steam, gog, etc...) websites and have been unable to find a resolution. Another thing I've noticed is that most threads regarding this issue are relatively old, and no confirmation for patch solutions were present for patch suggestions.

While fighting the kayran, I had quite a few problems with the left-button rapid-click QTE while riding the tentacle; that is the bar was not filling. I read online that it was a hardware-interface issue in which there was registration lag for clicking, so although I was clicking rapidly, only 1 or 2 clicks were being registered. That in mind, I switched to a lower resolution/display settings, handily defeated the kayran, the sorceress chick came down, talked to me for a bit, then the game promptly crashed.

When I reloaded it (the game), my most recent save was right before the kayran battle. I tried this again on several different (non-maxed) resolutions, and have now probably killed the kayran a dozen times only to have the game crash after the post-battle conversation. Other people have reported to have this issue, however as I earlier stated, none of the earlier inquiries were addressed successfully. Some made suggestions to install "the next patch", and consistently, no reply has been made after any of those suggestions (confirming or dis-confirming patch effectiveness in addressing this issue).

If anybody is familiar with this particular issue and a way to resolve it, I would be greatly appreciative for any advice, better yet, if this issue is a well known one that HAS been addressed by patch some time ago, If someone would be so kind as to point me in the right direction, that would be terrific.

Thanks!

Do you have a dedicated graphics card? You don't seem to mention it.

It sounds very much as though you're way below minimum specs. (Nvidia GF 8800 512 VR or ATI Radeon HD 3850 512 MB)

Also, running on version 1.0 is a really, really bad idea. The patch updates were there for a reason, and one of these is performance improvements. Even if you do have an up-to-spec graphics card, if your drivers and the game patches are both obsolete, you will have problems with the game.
