ResidentWeevil2077
Considering the rather high ammount of drugging of children with this convenient diagnosis of "attention deficit disorder" and others .. which in some cases is just shorthand for 'your kid's got the high energy of a kid' - I don't find it at all odd that this ad campaign caused confusion. I gleaned from the articles about it that they were trying to protest the myriad drugging of children into adult-acceptable behavior. But I think they actually caused more confusion with it and it is amusing that groups such as Scientology had the finger pointed at them as the originators.Oh jeez, don't get me started on this s**t - I can't believe how convenient it is for stupid child psychologists and psychoanalysts to suggest that a "hyperactive" child has ADD or ADHD. It's a complete and utter falsification of kids just being kids. Of course, it's the parents faults also for being misled into thinking their child(ren) has(have) ADD or ADHD. People are just simply lacking the time to actually care for their child(ren). Unless there's solid proof that a child actually has ADD/ADHD, then I see no point in prescribing ANY mind-altering drug to anyone. And whoever actually believes you can make kids behave like adults should be shot and/or hanged for child abuse.

ninja_lord666
<edit>I completely agree. Nowadays, people are completely paranoid about everything. Why do you think disinfectant spray so popular? People have this idea in their head that germs = DEATH, so they by dozens of different chemicals to kill off all these germs. The truly ironic thing about it, is that those sprays are more detrimental than beneficial. First, disinfectant spray is life killing poison. That says it all. Second, killing all the bacteria causes people to (obviously) have less exposure to said bacteria. The way the human immune system works is entirely experience based. The white blood cells analyse the new intruder to find out how to kill it, then kills it. The cells then remember those intruders, so in they appear again, the body can combat them. Little exposure to disease results in weak immune systems. In fact, the critical period of immunol growth occurs in the first six months after birth. Thirdly, a weak immune system in a parent results in a weak immune system for the child. Disinfectant sprays are raising a generation of weak immune systems.Sorry, I got off track.Meds!People are paranoid that anything that doesn't seem 'normal' is some kind of disease or mental condition. They only see in black and white. Children are strange. I know; I go to school with them. They are horrible malevolent creatures of insanity, but that's natural. What's unnatural is that they grow up into bigger children who think that small children are unnatural and should be medicated.
ResidentWeevil2077
<edit><edit>Stupid clean freaks and "germophobes" are the reason so many kids have allergies to peanuts/milk/whatever other thing kids are allergic to nowadays, it's not even funny. What's a little dirt, huh? Nothing a little soap and water won't make clean. It's this kind of xenophobic behaviour that should be looked into, and not that of a "hyperactive" kid. If I dropped some food on the floor, I'd be more apt to pick it up and eat it if the floor was visibly dirty than if it had just been cleaned with anti-germ soap or something. hoots7
Being the constant skeptic, the fact that there was no 1-800 number to call, no website or no “ask your doctor if Obay is right for you” would have made me suspicious of it. “From the makers of WhyBecauseISaidSo” sounds like something from Saturday Night Live or Mad TV. How's this? “Obay, when Ritalin is just not enough” lol.
Marcus Wolfe
Indeed, when ritalin is not enough............. Anyhow, our society does seem a tad xenophobic. What is the difference between hyperactivity combined with general stupidity and ADHD anyways?
ninja_lord666
Anyhow, our society does seem a tad xenophobic.Xenophobic?Greek-ξένος (xenos), meaning "foreigner," "stranger,"φόβος (phobos), meaning "fear."Xenophobic - fear of strangers. What does that have to do with what we're talking about? Marcus Wolfe
whoops! Did I say Xenophobic? I must've meant something else........... But xenophobia can mean a fear of strange things....
ninja_lord666
But xenophobia can mean a fear of strange things....Phobias are pretty specific. Xenos means strange person, not strange thing.
