"He disturbed my meditations."

"And you both disturbed me during system update 1.1" Delta said "No more noise, I was in the middle of flash copying potential stratergies"

Vandek Capparshim - Republic Cruiser: Tarisian Orbit

Vandek and Abban nodded to Magansh as he addressed them. They could tell by the look on the aging admiral's face that he was half baffled and half worried...but neither could tell on what the worry was founded. Perhaps the Republic's finally going insane?

"Well, we're here as you can see." Magansh began. "I'm sure you know of what happened to this place. The whole planet's one big ruin with almost no decently-intact buildings left."

"Almost none?" Abban keyed.

Magansh swallowed hard before continuing. "Yes. I suppose I'll just say why we're here right now. One structure that we know of partly escaped the Sith bombardment. We don't know how many stories it once had, but it still has five at present. Two weeks ago, a Republican scientist's private research vessel perceived some rather heavy activity coming from the region in which this building is located. He said it was transmitting some kind of Sith data...modern Sith data."

Both Vandek and Abban were incredulous. A modern Sith transmitter on an old ruined planet? The two Jedi had thought that the Republic was nuts for paying any attention to Taris, but of the few reasons they could identify for scouring the planet, this was certainly one.

"So I take it your total cluelessness yesterday was just a ruse." Abban said.

"Yes. I had orders not to let the rest of the crew know the true nature of this mission unless absolutely necessary." Magansh replied.

"Hmm...well this is a nice, out-of-the-way place to put a transmitter. Nobody expects anything to come of Taris anymore." Vandek commented.

"That's what I said. And if there's a secret Sith installation down there, it's done a damn good job of going undiscovered...at least until now." Magansh said.

Vandek cast another look at the holographic map as he continued speaking. "So why would the Republic request the presence of two Jedi knights, then? This seems like an operation for the normal Republic military."

"Me and a few of the other admirals collaborated for a couple of days before we set out for here, and we agreed that the likelihood of Sith Jedi at this alleged installation warranted the company of a couple of Jedi..."

"Contrary to popular belief among both the Republic and the Sith, Jedi are capable of being felled with blasters and explosives, Admiral." Abban interjected.

"Please, let me finish." Magansh asked. "Mr. Capparshim, your reputation for being a genius with computers and droids as well as being a skilled Jedi precedes you. Based on your scholastic and subsequent records and hearings, you easily outrank over half of the Republic's tech heads. The Republic desired for you to investigate this matter due to both your Jedi and technical abilities. We also wanted your friend Abban to accompany you since he's an intellectual of a different sort...namely in the arts of conversation and stealth."

Vandek and Abban cast glances at each other before refacing Magansh. "You and the Jedi Enclave must have a very...trusting relationship if they're allowing you to request Jedi at will for use as private mercenaries." Abban asserted.

"But this isn't just our mission. When we told the Jedi leaders of this, they were just as interested as we were." Magansh explained.

"And I'm assuming me and Abban will be conducting this 'investigation' on our own." Vandek said.

Magansh straightened and folded his hands in front of him. "Unfortunately, yes. While my superiors are dying to know what the source of this data is, they aren't willing to openly assault the place with a strike team, which I quite frankly find too timid."

"As do we." Abban agreed. "Still, we did agree to assist the Republic in this mission and we are bound to do so."

"The launch pods are ready to deploy when you are, sirs." Magansh said. "And if you need any extra supplies, just see the supply officer."

"Thank you. We will. Now one more thing. Did you detect any anti-aircraft weaponry down there?" Vandek asked.

"No. And we scanned three times over." Magansh answered simply.

"Then I guess we're ready. Thank you, Admiral." Vandek said. With that, the Jedi duo bowed respectfully and started off toward the launch pods."

As Magansh had suggested, the pair visited the requisitions officer and procured a small handful of assorted grenades and a couple of medical and antidote shots. They then continued to the pods. When they arrived, they saw the engineer performing some last-minute inspections.

"You do not need that term, this ship has destroyed a cruiser once before, it may be a small vessel but it is the vessel of a dark lord of the sith, i have got this thing outfitted with more weapons than a mandalorian armory., now touch down on the planet, i will find what i am after."

Once the ship had landed Nox walked onto the surface of taris, she looked around at the wreckage and ruin and said "This place is a dead planet, i have been here before as a told you, but the sith that were here have left, the signal we picked up from the modern sith equipment is probably just some of their stuff left behind, now i want all scanners set to find objects from the same timeline of this holocron, the one we found on tatooine, we shall find what we are looking for."

"Computed" 41 said, setting the sensors

Vandek Capparshim - Republic Cruiser, Tarisian Orbit

"Ho there, sir." Vandek said as he and Abban accosted the technician.

"Ah, you're here!" He said. "Looks like these things are all set, so hop on in whenever you're ready!"

Vandek and Abban slid into two of the launch pods and shut the hatches behind them. They sat in the seats and strapped themselves in. Then the technician came over the intercom.

"Ready, sirs?" Came the voice.

"Yes." They chorused.

Seconds later, the two Jedi were jettisoned from the ship and sped toward Taris.

Each Jedi slowly maneuvered their landing craft toward the marker on the onscreen map, and after about a minute, both spacecrafts landed smoothly side-by-side among the ruins of Taris. They both exited the pods and stepped down onto the landing zone. It was likely the remnant of an old street, judging by it's large length and small width.

"Well, we're here. That tall one off in the distance is probably our mark." Vandek said, pointing to a large structure rising above it's neighbors.

"Yep, looks like it. I'd say about three hundred meters off." Abban concurred.

As the pair began to make their way toward the building, a voice suddenly sounded from their comms.

"Vandek, Abban, do you read me?" Came Magansh's voice.

"Yes, Admiral, we read you. We've touched down about three hundred meters south of the building site. We're heading there now." Vandek replied.

"Good. Be careful, boys." said the admiral.

"We will. Out." Vandek finished.

As they walked along the ruined road, Abban observed the path ahead. The road seemed to continue on for another forty meters, and then it gave way to a pothole and stalagmite-infested patch of scorched earth which seemed to stretch for another thirty meters before connecting to the first of several ruined buildings between the agents and their objective.

"I really hope we don't run into any Sith out here in the open." Abban commented.

"Me too. Let's pick up the pace." Vandek said as he began jogging.

In time, they had traversed the remainder of the road and about half of the barren section. Then, Vandek suddenly stopped. He suddenly felt uneasy...nauseous almost. Master Kaxon had told me about this...is this what a disturbance in the Force feels like? Vandek looked at Abban, who was returning his stare with an equally confused and alarmed one. Then they both slowly looked around.

"We're being watched..." Abban said, letting his hand drift toward his lightsaber.

"I know..." Vandek confirmed. "Hurry, let's get to those buildings."

Vandek and Abban hastily advanced toward the ruined towers, pausing just before a large gash in the side of the first one. Abban shot a look at Vandek.

"We going through or around?" He asked.

Vandek thought for a moment. He didn't like the feeling he and his friend had had earlier. "Let's go through. I'd rather not have whoever's watching us see us out in the open." He said finally.

With that, the duo slowly and cautiously passed through the hole in the wall and took cover behind a piece of fallen metal off to the left. They were about to continue further when Vandek suddenly grabbed Abban's arm and pulled him back behind the rubble.

"Wait. Listen...do you hear that?" He whispered.

Abban listened intently for a moment. After a few seconds, he could hear something...a faint, gruff voice, possibly human, barking orders. "Yeah, I hear it. Sounds like someone yelling commands." He answered.

Both Jedi peered out from behind their hide-e-hole to see if they could spot the source of the noise, but they saw nothing on the ground floor of the building. The building was indeed little more than a shack at that point. A crude, ramshackle ramp formed from assorted debris on the far end of the room led up to what used to be the tower's first floor. After a quick rescan to make sure they were alone, Vandek and Abban moved toward the ramp and started up it.

As they climbed, jumped, and sidestepped their up the ruinous ramp, both men suddenly froze in place near the top. The sounds of footsteps and voices from the ramp's summit reached their ears, and they quickly searched for hiding spots. Vandek dove left into a small cubbyhole formed by several twisted pieces of metal, and Abban crouched down behind what appeared to be a pile of destroyed desks, boxes, and other sundries. They peeped through through small slits in their positions to try and glimpse their company above. Before long, a group of Sith soldiers materialized.

Vandek stayed still, hardly breathing, as he observed the troopers. One of them was looking back behind him, which told Vandek that there were more unseen men up there. He withdrew a concussion grenade from his pocket and looked over at Abban, who had also equipped a stun grenade. Abban looked back at Vandek and then motioned toward the Sith soldiers. Vandek looked at them for a few moments. They could have likely avoided confrontation with those men if they attempted to retreat from the building and circumvent it altogether, but the young technician was determined to stay concealed as much as possible from whatever was out there.

Darth Nox watched the Jedi enter the building, the scanners were leading them closer to it as well, she said "So we are not alone here, two Jedi knights... Damn, they are bound to interfere. Delta, scan the building and tell me if there is any life, other than our Jedi friends inside."

"Already done" 41 said "All scans indicate there are many life forms in the area. They have friendly tags however, these other life forms are sith soldiers" 41 looked at Darth Nox "Why are they here?"

"I have no idea, there are not meant to be any sith here.... there had better be a good reason or every one of them dies."

41 looked at her "My programming will not allow you to kill sith soldiers without a good reason, that was added in the system update"
