Radio Stations that play music that isn't from the 50's

This is more of a group project since I'm more into Hard Rock and Metal, but I want to make Radio that play more modern music. I want there to be a Station that covers each major group.

 

Hard Rock and Metal is spoken for.

 

Rap and hip hop is up for grabs

 

Pop is up for grabs

 

And so forth.

 

I feel this will make the game much more in depth since it involves music we all listen to these days.

If your making such a mod for yourself then there is no real issue. If your wanting make a mod where you and others add music you each own to radio stations then you hit the copyright law issue.

 

what you could do, is set up each radio station with place holder files and a simple tut telling the users of the mod how to add their own music to the place holder file.

 

unless of course I am misunderstanding what your wanting to do.

As JoKelly said, copyright is a big issue here. You can't distribute your favorite songs from the radio. That would be a huge copyright violation. As an alternative, there are metal, hip-hop, and songs of all other genres out there in the public domain. These aren't your popular radio songs though. But if it is in the public domain, you can release it with your mod.

 

The second issue is that it doesn't really add more depth to the game. Rather, it detracts from it. Fallout isn't our universe. Our world and the Fallout world diverged at some point. Most of the stuff up through WWII is generally the same in both worlds. After that, the Fallout universe definitely went off in a different direction. Miniature computers and smart phones and such were never invented. Everything is made with old fashioned vacuum tube type technology. Culturally, the Fallout world is stuck in the 1950s. There were no hippies, no protest rock, no hip-hop, and no Justin Bieber (hmmm... maybe their way is better). The world of Fallout is basically a cheesy 1950s / 1960s sci-fi movie reality. It's not supposed to be our world. Heavy metal and hip-hop don't fit into the Fallout world.

 

But, if you don't care so much about game lore and just want to rock out to Primus or, heaven forbid, Metallica (some people have no taste) as you're hoofing it across the wasteland, check out the Radio Stations category. There are several radio stations that come with instructions on how to load your own music files to customize them for your preferences.
